Consultancy - Theatrical Play Workshop

Background and Objectives In Lebanon, IRC in cooperation with UNHCR is currently implementing a Child Protection program in Arsal. The program includes psychosocial activities targeting adolescents and caregivers and the direct provision of case management services in informal settlements and community centers. In order to complement psychosocial activities for youth IRC would like to organize additional workshops with the assistance of NGO or Consultants specializing in music and or theatre. The main goal of these workshops is to complement IRC “My Safety, My Well Being Life Skills module” with additional activities to foster youth positive coping mechanisms building on positive communications and cooperation skills as well as  the use of the youth creative skills.  The youth were consulted in order to decide what additional activities would be more suitable for them and jointly decided to go for theatrical play. Objective: Empowering the youth by boosting their self-confidence through performing theatre Target audience and profile (age, literacy level) The target audience will be adolescents from 11 till 17 years of age from refugee communities. 5% of youth participants from host communities also allowed.  Specifically 35 youth divided in 2 groups: one group to perform the acting and another group to create the setting and the costumes of the theatrical play Location and length of assignment The workshop should be delivered in IRC Arsal Community center over a period of 8 weeks. Each group: 20 children and 15 children will participate for 4hrs session once a week for a period of 8 weeks and at the end of the 8th week a performance will take place. Expected Deliverables Lead 2 youth groups (15 pax each for the behind the scenes team and 20 pax for the actors team for a total of 35 children) to the creation of a theatrical play from A to Z: conception and creation of the scenario, acting, creating costumes, creating set design. Workshop should be conducted for a period of 8 weeks; each weekly session lasting 4hrs per group. Seek and/or provide all the relevant material necessary for the workshop. Lead a final performance in front of a wider audience if the security situation allows Provide signed attendance list of all the sessions conducted; Provide final report on the activities conducted including pictures
