The Public Health Intern supports UNHCR Public Health Unit in its implementation and delivery of programs for the Syrian Refugee Crisis. S/he assists with ensuring international health and nutrition minimum standards are met to minimize avoidable mortality and morbidity among populations of concern

The incumbent will assist the Public Health Unit in programme coordination, planning, and monitoring including data analysis and evaluation, capacity
-building of partners, and advocacy, information and communication on public health and nutrition-related issues.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Public Health Officer, Zahle, the incumbent will assist with the following tasks:
- Assist with monitoring tasks of indicators in the Lebanon health programme;
- Assist the organization and use of Health Information System (HIS) in order to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions;
- Assist with the referral system between relevant actors;
- Assist with roll out of mass information tools
- Assist with updating and disseminate information materials on public health based on standard practices and policies among partners;
- Assist the Assistant Public Health Officer, Zahle in other duties relevant to service delivery for refugees

2.4 ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Define the educational background, the relevant job experience and the language(s) that are essential to perform the work of the position.
- Degree in public health, nutrition or related field preferred Solid data analysis skills.
- At least 3 months of relevant experience in progressively responsible functions, preferably with some experience in an international capacity.
- Understanding of Microsoft word, excel and power point
- Working knowledge of Arabic essential
2.5 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES. Describe any experience or knowledge that would be an asset, such as: UNHCR Learning Programmes, other training, additional languages, Field/HQs experience, etc.
- Masters-level qualification in public health
- Ability to promote good working relationships among colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability for analytical and creative thinking for rapid solution(s).
- Good communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to deal with different cultural and educational backgrounds.
