Background:
Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on combating violence against women and children, women and youth empowerment e,g. vocational training… In partnership with Heartland Alliance, AND is in the process of launching Mobile and stactic safe women spaces that provides holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma.
Summary:
The Social worker will be based in Akkar and shall take the responsibility of conducting case management for survivors, target refugee women and girls within collective shelters and settlements with outreach sessions and distributions of dignity kits, as well as conducting psycho-social activities, awareness sessions, safety audits and promoting the activities of the Safe Women Space within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Dispense information about the various programs and services offered by AND’s Safe Women Space
• Identify families or individuals in need of psychosocial support or counseling through shelter visits
• Receive referrals from different agencies and local actors;
• Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of gender-based violence), including counseling and basic case management.
• Collect information about visited vulnerable families through interviews, observation, and tests carried out via outreach visits to shelters.
• Liaising with, and making referrals of specific cases
• Participating in training, supervision and team meetings.
• Conduct outreach awareness sessions on various topics such as women participation, women’s rights, empowerment, etc.
• Receive and manage emergency calls.
• Conduct safety audits within shelters
• Report verbally and in written to the Safe Women Space Coordinator
• Ensure proper documentation of data collected by opening and maintaining a file for each beneficiary
Qualifications & Experience:
• University degree; in social work or related field • Preferably minimum 2 years of relevant work experience • Sufficient knowledge and intervention on SGBV and protection issues • Experience in emergency work is a plus • Ability to work under stress • Good written and spoken English and Arabic skills
