Expert In Public Health

Main areas of responsibility (in coordination with COOPI Project Manager): To safeguard and improve the Hygiene Conditions and public health of the most affected Syrian refugees population living in  Collective Shelters and Small Shelter Units Coordinating a team of Hygiene Promoters in order to endorse best Hygiene Promotion practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services; Promoting water conservation measures at the household level; Ensuring appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities; Ensuring effective coordination and integration of Hygiene Promotion activities with the delivery of water and sanitation services and facilities. Ensuring coordination of Hygiene Promotion methodologies with the Lebanon WASH sector. Participation in the Hygiene Promotion working groups and collaborates on new methodologies.   Specific duties:   1)      Organization and conduction of Hygiene Promotion campaigns: Coordination of a team of Hygiene Promoters and outreach workers Develop contents and strategy for HP campaigns according to the assessed needs of the target communities (based on recognized approaches, i.e. PHAST) and in the various environment COOPI is developing the projects (Informal Settlements, Collective Shelters, Hosting community settlements, Schools, etc.) Participate in the development of IEC materials to spread Hygiene related messages Organize (logistics and human resources) and conduct Hygiene Promotion campaigns Written reports on the conducted HP campaigns Conduct monitoring survey and follow up visits after the completion of the HP campaigns Participate in the development of IEC materials to spread Hygiene related messages       2)      Management of the distribution of NFI (as Water Filters, Hygiene Kits, Water Tanks) Identify basic and specific needs and deliver appropriate WASH NFI according to the COOPI and WASH Sector strategies Conduct Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) survey Cases Referral in order to provide an immediate response       3)      Coordination, support and monitoring of outreach workers a)      Monitoring the outreach worker charged of field assessment meeting them regularly and collecting questionnaires filled to be sent to data entry b)      Facilitate the meeting of the outreach workers with the Expert charged for data entry and analysis every time it is needed c)      Monitor the outreach workers charged to assist himself during assessment and distributions d)     Collecting all relevant documents connected with distributions e)      Organizing and Coordinating the distribution of NFI in IS and SSU.   4)      Contact to and co-operation with relevant local authorities a)      He/she will liaise the project with all concerned local authorities, introducing the project and organizing meetings (when needed) with the Project Manager or COOPI higher level officers. b)      He/she will assist the Project Manager and/or any other COOPI expatriate officer during the meetings translating documents and interpreting (when necessary) for a correct interaction.   5)      Other: a)      Other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager according to project needs and reputed by the management in line with the profile of the Expert in Public Health / Senior Hygiene Promotion Officer.   Qualifications and skills: Bachelor degree or Master Degree in Public Health (or related fields) Good computer skills Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic languages, both oral and written Valid Driving License and ability to drive both automatic/manual cars Previous experience in working with national/international NGOs is an advantage Good Knowledge of Northern Lebanon   Personal qualities: Ability to work both independently and as a team member Ability to lead a team Excellent communications skills Ability to work in different cultural environments Willingness to expand further his competences and learning new approaches and methodologies of work Knowledge of his/her limits and willingness to surpass them
