Case Manager

BACKGROUND and JUSTIFICATION:   KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation is a Lebanese non-profit, non-political, non-confessional civil society organization, established on the 8th of March 2005 by a group of activists and professionals who have long years of work experience in women issues, specifically in gender-based violence. The organization seeks to mitigate the causes and results of violence and exploitation of women and children through advocacy and lobbying, raising awareness, and by offering social and legal services to vulnerable cases. KAFA’s overall strategic goal is to contribute to the eradication of all sorts of domestic violence and exploitation of women and children. It focuses its strategies and efforts on three major areas: 1) Gender-based violence, 2) Child Protection from GBV and SGBV, and 3) Trafficking in women.  In 2014, KAFA will partner with UNICEF in a project entitled “Protecting children and adolescents from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from gender based violence (early marriage and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness as well as their caregivers’ on how to protect themselves from Gender Based Violence. In 2015, KAFA will continue its partnership with UNICEF in the same project through equipping and operating an adolescent friendly space (AFS) in Chtaura - Bekaa aiming at mitigating and addressing child protection violations. This space will provide case management for adolescents’ survivors of GBV and abuse aged between 10 and 18 years old, psychosocial support, educational activities on Sexual and reproductive health (SRH), educational and awareness sessions on life skills, trainings on child rights, photography, drama and dance therapy sessions. Thus, the social worker will be needed to support the provision of direct services and care to GBV adolescent girls and boys survivors of abuse.  SCOPE OF WORK: The case manager will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and Center Supervisor to whom he/she will report. The case manager would work within the ethics, values and principles of KAFA’s Adolescent Friendly Space. More particularly, the case manager is expected to deliver the following tasks:  Contribute to setting up policies and procedures for the provision of service and care of GBV survivors; Provide listening and counseling services to adolescent boys and girls survivors of violence and provide case management for every beneficiary; Fill-in the national intake questionnaires for the beneficiaries and timely keep case records, and document the calls received from survivors of GBV; Conduct regular weekly field visits to beneficiaries in Informal Settlements and households in West and Central Bekaa; Refer the beneficiaries, when needed, and coordinate with family medicine doctors, forensic doctors, lawyers, psychiatrists, and other frontline personnel; Maintain and develop cooperative working relationships with relevant service providers (national and international), community centers and organizations, governmental institutions, companies and local businesses etc.; to enhance work opportunities and cover complementary needs of the adolescents beneficiaries of the project; Organize and follow up group activities for the beneficiaries such as Art and Drama therapy sessions; Coordinate and organize awareness raising sessions on different topics related to GBV, Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights; Contribute to the dissemination of the services offered to survivors of GBV through establishing networks and preparing and distributing informational and media materials; Contribute in writing evaluation and periodic progress reports and assist the Project Coordinator and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in establishing monitoring and evaluation indicators in light of the objectives and expected results of the project. Attend the coordination meetings such as CPiEWG and SGBV task force meetings, when needed.  COMPETENCES: Bachelor Degree in Social Work; Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English; Relevant experience in field work on the issues related to GBV and emergencies; Demonstrated ability to work within a team, and under pressure; Demonstrated respect of work ethics.   PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: While working on a KAFA project, it is required to sign KAFA’s Child Protection Policy.
