Makhzoumi Foundation is a private Lebanese non-profit organization, established in 1997. Our ultimate mission is to empower Lebanese citizens - through improving their socioeconomic status, healthcare provisions, and environmental awareness, and by encouraging their quest for education - thereby enabling them to independently develop and progress their local communities, and to subsequently enhance the country’s civil society on a national scale.
Currently, the Makhzoumi Foundation Relief and Humanitarian Services Unit (MFRHSU) is implementing partner with UNHCR to deliver emergency and recovery projects in Hygiene, Shelter, and Protection, case management, Health and Livelihood Recovery sectors. Makhzoumi Foundation is currently implementing projects in all these sectors in support of those within Lebanon affected by the Syrian crisis, as well as other non-Syrian refugees.
Job Overview:
MFRHSU is seeking recruitment of social worker for our Persons With Specific Needs team. PWSN social worker will be required to work with vulnerable refugees with a range of different needs including mental health concerns, disability, medical issues, housing needs, financial vulnerability, older persons, specific legal or protection issues or experience of torture. The Social worker will need to have a sensitive, responsive and professional approach to working with individual beneficiaries to reduce stigma associated with any of these individual vulnerabilities and the general vulnerability of being a refugee who is experiencing displacement and associated stress as a result of leaving their country of origin. The social worker will perform a variety of tasks and duties with the objective of finding the best solution with and achieving the best outcome for beneficiaries. The social worker will be responsible for advising beneficiaries of their choices and options, and supporting them through their own problem solving process in a participatory way.
General duties and responsibilities:
To ensure vulnerable individuals are identified and receive individual case management support in a timely fashion through by conducting documentation, assessments, action plans, direct service provision, referrals and follow ups for an assigned case load
To provide support to vulnerable individuals with protection concerns in the process of psychosocial support and case management.
To directly work with other caseworkers and service providers on management of caseload and referral
Act at all times according to guiding principles of case management including:
A client centred approach
Ensuring confidentiality
Prioritization according to safety concerns
Anti-discriminatory practice
Acting according to the best interests of the client
Ensuring accountability
Respecting professional boundaries and avoiding conflicts of interest
Case Management:
Participate in and support the identification of individual cases identified by the team or referred by other agencies.
Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well-being.
Plan with the Senior Social Worker/Social Work Manager to conduct home visits to assess the living conditions of the cases.
Ensure the preparation of accurate case plans for high-risk and vulnerable cases identified with clear outcomes and time-frame.
Advocate with different institutions and services providers to help beneficiaries to access needed resources and services.
Collaborate with the medical focal point for all medical cases
In collaboration with the Supervisor, ensure coordination with other service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing.
Manage, fill, archive specific forms for cases profiling, referral and weekly reporting ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
Monitor and follow up the outcome of the assistance provided.
Be available to provide basic emotional support for urgent cases.
Ensure the provision of emergency cash assistance for the most vulnerable clients, according to the needs of the clients, the agreed criteria and the internal procedures and under the supervision of the Social Work Manager/Protection Coordinator.
Participate in management of the hotline.
Participate in weekly casework allocation and planning meetings.
Ensure that data protection protocols are respected.
Be available to participate in meetings and training in and outside the centre including case management meetings, case conference meetings or any other meetings when required.
Communicate regularly with the Senior Social Worker/Social Work Manager for updates on achievements and challenges
Accomplish any other assignments allocated by line managers.
Psychosocial activities:
Participate and collaborate in recreational, psychosocial, awareness activities conducted in or outside of the centre when requested by the Social Work Manager.
Support the organization of specific events or activities inside or outside of the centre.
Who this position reports to:
The Social Worker accepts work from and reports to the Senior Social Worker and the Social Work Manager
Monitoring and Reporting:
Provide daily and weekly updates to the Social Work Manager on cases assessed and supported.
Support the Senior Social Worker in the production of daily weekly reports to the Social Work Manager, Protection Coordinator and Unit Coordinator.
Contribute to the update of the Makhzoumi Foundation case management system and UNHCR RAIS.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social work, Counselling, Psychology or other related field.
1 year of experience in social work related to case management in particular in humanitarian crisis preferred although not essential.
Experience working with refugee population preferred.
