Advocacy Officer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver advocacy campaigns and communication activities across the region to challenge norms and behaviours around gender and women’s rights Focal point for one or more of the Gender Justice Programme in the Regional gender Justice Programme  Work with partners and Oxfam staff in all targeted countries to develop and deliver creative advocacy support gender justice programme objectives. Develop and draft communication and outreach material including speeches, policy documents, posters, booklets, material for websites, social media, and through audio visual tools. Work with partners, Oxfam staff and external stakeholders to conduct an ongoing analysis of the changing environment to understand who the power holders are in targeted countries, so as to target advocacy more effectively. Undertake research pieces to support the work of the Regional Gender Justice Programme. Provide capacity building support for partners and stakeholders to support them to advocate for their rights. Work closely with project beneficiaries to develop evidence base for wider advocacy and work. Carry out proactive outreach work to build relationships with a range of other stakeholders in support of advocacy work, including supporting partners to network. Ensure strong monitoring and evaluation of advocacy work. Support Gender Hub teams on and advocacy and campaigning  as needed. Under take any tasks which ae necessary to deliver gender justice across the region as required   SKILLS AND COMPETENCE: Essential Hands on, practical and demonstrable experience working with partners/CSOs/NGOs in the Middle East Hands on, practical and demonstrable experience in advocacy, campaigning and working with the media Experience of providing training and engaging in capacity building activities Proven analytical skills, including the ability to think strategically Ability to influence others, excellent social skills and a team player Experience of working in a multicultural team environment with both national/global staff High level of flexibility with the ability to produce creative and pragmatic solutions to complex/ambiguous operational problems Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic Readiness to undertake regular travel Commitment to gender equality Desirable Research experience, including familiarity with research methods and practices Sound knowledge of the context and particularly of women’s rights in this context Familiarity with legal protection issues in the Middle East and North Africa region Experience in media and advocacy in international non-governmental organisations OTHER: Legally entitled to live and work in Lebanon Willing and able to travel to the region (expected travel: 20% of time)
