Terms of ReferenceSSCL Training & Capacity Building CoordinatorThe Safety & Security Committee for Lebanon (SSCL) is a committee of Local NGOs,International NGOs, United Nations (UN), International Organizations (IO) and Civil Society Non-Profit Organizations who coordinate and share information, resources and training on safetyand security in Lebanon.SSCL Mission Statement: To enhance the safety and security of international and localorganizations operating in the humanitarian, development and civil society sector in Lebanon byfostering awareness and analysis, risk management, information sharing, coordination and bestpractice.The Values of SSCL: P.I.E. – Predictive, Innovative, Enabling.Job DescriptionThe Training & Capacity Building Coordinator is responsible for facilitating trainings provided bythe Safety & Security Committee for Lebanon (SSCL) in conjunction with the SSCL TrainingPartners to SSCL members, clients, and strategic partners in Lebanon, and operating in theMiddle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. They are also responsible for delivering effectivecapacity building for SSCL members, clients and strategic partners with the HumanitarianDevelopment Trainer & Capacity Builder. This will be done by:- Leading the logistical, administrative, and resource planning, implementation, andfollow-up of SSCL trainings and capacity building, including Hostile EnvironmentTraining, Safety Management Training, Hostile Environment Driver Training and bespoketrainings and capacity building activities.- Providing English and Arabic interpretation for SSCL trainings, and translating necessarytraining documents between English and Arabic.- Serving as the focal point to SSCL members, clients, and strategic partners in regards toapplications to planned trainings, training payments, follow-up inquiries, andcertificates.-- Coordinating accurate and timely completion of financial, administrative, logistical, andprocurement documentation, in regards to planned trainings.- Serving as the focal point to third-party training providers in regards to additionaltraining requests from members, collecting potential training agendas, pricing, andscheduling.- Developing new SSCL training products, as needed.ReportingThe Training Coordinator will report to the SSCL Head of Coordination, and will work closelywith Trainer and Capacity Builder, and other SSCL staff.Education- Masters level qualification in Risk Management, Education, Communications,Journalism or Business Administration, in lieu a relevant bachelor combined with 3or more years’ experience in public or private sector in threat and risk managementor in communication.Experience- 3 to 5 years of experience in education/training or relevant to humanitarian,development or government policy and operations.- Successfully completed SSCL suite of trainings.- Familiarity with UN, INGO, Lebanon or Donor security management systems highlydesirable.Skills Required- Excellent understanding of the Lebanon context- Be fluent in written and spoken English as the working language of the SSCL- Be geographically flexible, with an ability to travel throughout Lebanon for a significantperiod of time- Possess a Lebanese Drivers license for minimum two years- Be prepared to work irregular hours and days in response to critical incidents- Strong leadership, management, planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communicationskills- Ability to quickly adapt and innovative methods of communication with newtechnologies- Excellent initiator, able to manage multiple tasks- Able to work under pressure and good at timely decision making- Excellent written and spoken Arabic, French is desirable- Competent in Microsoft Office and an interest in the potential of new and social media- Knowledge and/or experience in conflict management, protection, or other related field- Excellent professional approach and strong team building skills- Strong coordination and representation skills and well versed in convincing andclarification of views and points- Embraces culturally diversity and highly tolerant- A sense of humor is absolutely mandatoryPreferred- Sound understanding of risk management principles.- Ability to develop and maintain culturally and socially diverse relationships and contacts.- Previous experience in management and coordination.- Experience of staff capacity development, training and knowledge transfer.Note: Positions with SSCL can be demanding, this position involves up to 48 contact work hours a weekand up to 184 contact work hours a month.
