Supervisor Animator (Sa/ml/tdhnl)

INTRO TERRE DES HOMMES ITALY (TDH IT), non-governmental international organization, is recruiting a Supervisor Animator  to be involved in the implementation of the project “Protection for Syrian refugee children and vulnerable Lebanese girls and boys and their caregivers living in Mount Lebanon” funded by TDH NL.   JOB PURPOSE The Supervisor Animator will closely work with the animators in the center of Bayssour. She/he will organize, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the PSS activities leading the group of animators in order to reach the goals of the project.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To be in charge of developing, delivering and monitoring structured indoor and outdoor animation activities. To develop and systematize a detailed monthly activity plan for the children, indicating specifically the aim and the objectives of the activity so to be able to closely monitor results achieved with children. To design structured animation activities aiming at developing children’s social, mental and motor abilities and organise groups of children accordingly. To carry out structured animation activities using specific methodologies to support the children’s learning process. To keep the balance between social, mental and physical activities. To plan the activity in order to ensure progressive steps from easier to more difficult activities. To treat the children in a friendly way and to stay with the children during the activities whether they are inside or outside. To ensure that children have the possibility to participate in designing the activity, to express themselves and to be heard. To ensure that children are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender based groups. In dealing with difficult behaviours (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion and so on), to understand the reason behind the behaviour and to try as much as possible to use the other children as a resource to solve the problem. To monitor the child participation to the activities. To monitor child progresses, identify children in need and refer special cases to the social workers and the psychologists as soon as identified. Coordinate with social/outreach workers to link with the parents and the community. To participate in the preparation, execution and organization of awareness sessions/cultural events. To monitor the implementation of each activities in a proper way matching with the relevant goal To monitor the quality of the services provided by the animator team To report in case of any kind of abuse to the center coordinator and social/outreach workers. To plan and request the material needed for the activities. To be responsible for the proper use and basic maintenance of the animation material and Child Friendly Space facility. To participate in the trainings available. To prepare a monthly report about the children. To participate in the meetings whenever necessary. To have a good team spirit and to work in a close collaboration with the team in the drafting, implementation and follow-up of the activities. To coordinate with the TDH IT staff present in the area. To comply with the TDH IT Code of Conduct.     EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS University degree in social work, or a related field. At least 6 months of experience with NGOs in community based work, preferably protection-related projects; Experience  in psychosocial support activities; Strong understanding of refugee issues in the current Lebanon context; Experience in community mobilization in deprived communities; Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs; Excellent communications skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and ability to work with refugee and host community populations; Written and oral communication skills in English preferred; Positive, respectful attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving; Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations; Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members; Capacity to work in team and flexibility to take on new tasks; Significant knowledge and understanding of the current political, economic, cultural and historical context of Mount Lebanon preferred; Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different cultural backgrounds; Cultural sensitivity and adaptability; Computer Literacy.
