Art Therapist

1.  Background and rationale The Syrian Voice and Accountability Project aims at amplifying the voices of Syrian women and men refugees, through creating a safe communication space, to share their ambitions, aspirations, concerns and needs. The project focuses on four main pillars including information provision, capacity building, advocacy, and mobilizing Syrian Women Rights Organisations to actively engage and promote peace. The project aspires to increase the resilience of Syrian refugees to be able to face the challenges in host communities. 2.  Objectives The Art Therapist will facilitate and lead three workshops in commemoration of Refugee Day in three targeted SVA areas in Lebanon including Tyre, Tripoli, and Bekaa. He/She will work closely with SVA beneficiaries (Syrian refugees) mainly parents and children. The workshops should include: - Open discussion around the themes surrounding  World Refugee Day.. - Art and painting sessions that depict feelings, ideas, thoughts of Syrian refugees in their experiences. 3.  Expected outputs - Three, one-day workshops in Tyre, Tripoli, Beka’a. - Each workshop will be cater to 20-25 of SVA beneficiaries, with a grand total of 75. - At least 30 paintings/depictions/drawings will be produced. 4.  Tasks and Responsibilities -       With support fom local partner and SVA team, art Therapist will: - design the activities for the sessions and agenda.  - facilitate the workshop and lead the activities. -       provide an end report of the activity with lessons learned and recommendations for future similar activities. 5.  Ways of working and communications The Art Therapist will coordinate with to SVA team based in Oxfam. He/She will also work closely with ABAAD relevant project staff. 6.  Qualifications and Competencies: -       A strong knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of psychotherapy and the role art can play in treatment. -       Education degree in Psychology (Masters or higher is a plus). -       Experience in provision of Art Therapy to vulnerable groups. Have worked with Syrian refugees is a plus. -       Excellent artistic abilities, creativity, imagination and enthusiasm, maturity, patience and a calm, respectful manner -       Ability to provide a trusting, open, kind-hearted atmosphere that encourages learning and participation -       A strong empathy with and commitment to helping people from all walks of life -       Ability to deal with difficult, perhaps painful and embarrassing situations -       Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills -       Arabic is the language for delivering the workshop.   7.  How to apply: Send the following: -       Cover letter -       Resume -       Concept paper including a proposed agenda for workshop with description of approach and activities. -       Proposed financial budget.
