Purpose of Job: To manage the implementation, delivery and quality control of assigned education projects (primarily the World Bank Second Education Development School Improvement Project and the HSBC/British Council Building Futures Together Project) by working with partners, stakeholders and wider target audiences in Lebanon and the UK to meet the British Council’s strategic objectives.
The post holder will report to the Director Programmes and Partnerships, working as part of the Lebanon Programmes Team and as necessary with colleagues in the UK and MENA region.
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Project Implementation, Administration and Logistics
To ensure that implementation and administrative functions within the British Council Lebanon office are carried out in accordance with BC obligations under projects contracts with partners such as the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon.
Main Duties
To ensure that logistical arrangements are in place for training, workshops, etc…
To ensure that all security protocols are adhered to as appropriate
To be the main point of contact for enquiries coming into the projects
To ensure that information and records management is done according to contract and British Council requirements
To manage the purchase and maintenance of materials and equipment as appropriate
To support on project activity planning and reporting
To develop and implement communications plans
To proactively communicate our Education work to both internal and external audiences through a variety of channels so as to create positive impact for the UK and the British Council.
To identify opportunities to support the British Council's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) policy, and considers all seven areas of EDI framework in planning and implementation of programme and project activities.
Financial Management:
To ensure that all financial transactions of the projects are managed appropriately and in accordance with the head contract and British Council rules.
Main Duties
To ensure that country budgets are managed and reported on appropriately through use of British Council SAP system
To ensure that invoices are checked and paid appropriately in accordance with the head contract and British Council guidance
To ensure that receipts and financial records are kept securely and are able to constitute an audit trail back to invoices
To identify and control project risks
Monitoring and Evaluation:
To support the delivery of the monitoring plan, particularly ensuring project staff complete specific tasks
To support the capture of data and subsequent analysis and reporting
Relationship building and managing networks
To identify, build and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders including government bodies, donors, INGOs, private sector organisations, media, schools, further and higher education institutions, local NGOS, academics, research institutions.
