Project Pharmacist

Main Purpose: Execute the pharmacy/medical storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level.  Provide an accurate, timely and qualitative dispensing service of drugs in female consultation department.   Accountabilities:   Monitor correct stock management across pharmacies within project area, to guarantee a good control and up-dated data of stock levels and general control over drugs and medical devices. Ensuring inventories are recorded correctly. Tracking movements of drugs and medical devices (entry, exit, destinations) ensuring quality and assessing their conditions, as well as reporting any problem. Ensure, in cooperation with the project logistic manager, storage conditions (e.g. humidity, temperature, light exposure, cleanliness, pest and rodents control, etc.), and that classification and organization of medicines and medical material meet MSF protocols Ensure that all hygiene and security procedures are followed in project pharmacies by cleaning, controlling pests and rodents, etc. Supervise the functioning and organization of the project central pharmacy and other peripheral units, setting the protocols and procedures to be followed by all staff, in order to ensure the quality of the service given to the population and the accurate handling of the products and equipment in terms of hygiene and security. Dispense medication to patients according to medical prescription. Ensure the medication is labelled with the correct drug name, strength, quantity, expiry date, directions for use and includes and additional required information Provide clear instructions and advice on how to take the drug, when, how long, how to store, possible side-effects and any other relevant warnings. Make sure the patient understands in order to ensure correct treatment. Adhere to MSF practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to controlled drugs Ensure respect of confidentiality in dispensing Supervise material orders and dispatching in order to ensure rational use. Receive orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure continuous availability. Report on drug consumptions and medical devices dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns. It includes: Ensuring correct disposal of expired medicines. Ensure correct fill in entries on the stock cards and software (Isystock) Prepare orders of the different consumption units (departments, wards, other), ensuring the packaging and proper dispatching. Reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy/ Midwife Supervisor. Also inform Pharmacy/ Midwife Supervisor as soon as stock reaches alert limit Report missing material/ damage/ robbery. Ensures good storage conditions of all items in the pharmacy. Control warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials good keeping conditions Ensure cleanliness of premises (stock pharmacy). Follows up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months. Make a reports     Requirements:   Essential Education: Desirable medical related studies Experience required: 1 to 2 years Languages: speaking English or French is preferable/ Arabic is a must Informatics: knowledge in Excel and Word is a must   Desirable Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs.   Competences Analysis capacity (decision-making capacity and global vision of the project) Teamwork (ability to work with other people, whether they be medical or non-medical – bear in mind other priorities...) Ability to act as part of a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary team. Initiative Quality-driven (go beyond his/her “formal” responsibilities seeking quality outputs and improvement of working processes) Problem solving capacity Communication skills (capacity to listen and communicate in an effective, specific, positive way) Flexibility (capacity to adjust to changes, willing to go beyond her/his job profile if needed) Flexible for changes in the job profile and even of location due to instability of context. Ability to cope with stress. Ready to work in an unstable context (war context)   Additional tasks   On request perform any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organisation to function optimally
