Safety Officer

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that had the skills to engage in our organization as a Safety Officer Who are we?DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects.DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. Since May 2011, DRC has been actively involved in the Lebanon emergency response to the Syrian crisis with presence in the North, East (Bekaa valley) and South of Lebanon. The DRC response is designed around 4 majors sectors: Food /NFI distribution, Protection, Shelter and livelihood support. As such, DRC is positioned in Lebanon as a main implementing partner of UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, ECHO and DANIDA, For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk Duties• Monitor the evolving situation in the area of DRC operations in coordination with other actors as per regional, country and programme guidelines and Facilitate access and operations through the provision of dependable advice to staff and managers• Collect, verify, analyze and report information that affects, or may affect, DRC operations• Identify indicators and key decision points, and link them to the SRA and security phases and Assist in training program staff on security procedures, as required • Prepare and submit security reports and trend analyses, as required and Provide advice on programme development and implementation• Supervise the implementation of regional security policies, protocols and procedures related to the safe implementation of programme activities and monitor the development and implementation of context specific MOSS• When necessary, provide operational security briefings and orientation to all new and visiting staff • Assist in the management of security incidents and crises, provide timely and accurate incident reports and analysis, and support organizational lessons learned • Supervision of Safety Assistant (SA) of South of Lebanon , the regular conduct of Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) as per DRC policy , the monthly assessment of the Minimum Operating Safety Standards (MOSS) and Safety Level System (SLS) About you• Tertiary education (Bachelor minimum) in communication, politics, risk or other related field• 1 – 3 Experience working with NGOs, other international agencies or multinational business• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines • Stable, moral and robust character and a good team-player• Excellent communication skills, calm and a good sense of humor• Proven commitment to accountability practices• Strong information technology skills• Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic We offerAn interesting job in one of the best NGO’s in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance.
