SANAD - The Home Hospice Organization of Lebanon Knowledge and Research Focal Point (Part-time)   SANAD, The Home Hospice Organization of Lebanon Our mission is to provide comprehensive home-based hospice care to terminally ill patients while preserving their dignity and enhancing the quality of their remaining life. We aim to assist patients to remain as alert, as functional and as comfortable as possible within the calm and sanctuary of their own home, surrounded by family and loved ones. This support includes medical, social, and psychological support to the patients and their family members.      Responsibility   Under the guidance and supervision of SANAD management, The Knowledge and Research focal point is responsible for the following: -       Identifying and managing priority palliative care and hospice care research plans and projects with the different partners (volunteers, interns, and outsourced researchers).  -       Providing the multidisciplinary team with relevant reference material needed to improve SANAD’s support to patients and their families -       Collecting and analyzing data for SANAD’s research studies, under the supervision of the Principal Investigators of the corresponding studies -       Supporting SANAD’s efforts in the Government’s National Committee for palliative care with all related information and key findings to feed into the Palliative Care National Strategy.  -       Identifying training opportunities for SANAD’s staff.   Functions   While reporting to one or more SANAD Board members and coordinating with SANAD’s executive team, the focal point will work on the following:   1. Research/studies -          Identify SANAD’s priority study and research areas  -          Identify research/study bodies, groups, individual consultants or students to partake in the planning, implementation and reporting -          Ensure that the policy sub-committee’s[1] information /research / enquiries and needs are met -          Supervise the implementation of any data collection/ research or studies carried out with/for SANAD -          Provide SANAD with relevant and updated data for: Research proposals   Technical proposals for donor agencies and funding reports Written material, published papers, and articles on hospice care. Fact sheets and analyses based on systematically derived data derived from SANAD’s data (intake forms, round table discussion, etc). Briefing documents, background papers, tables and reports of relevant research/study results for public presentation IRB documentation and ensuring IRB approval, when needed. -          Develop SANAD’s existing relationship with and create new ones with international hospice and palliative care bodies.   2. Training opportunities In coordination with the executive team, identify training needs and opportunities for SANAD’s team members   3. Deliverables The focal point is expected to: -          Draft a one-year plan that includes the year’s priorities, objectives, activities and timeline -          Provide a monthly update report    All materials prepared and research undertaken will take into consideration of the following: -          Informed consent of participants -          Compliance with regulations of the IRB from which the approval was sought, which includes protecting the confidentiality of the participants -          Following SANAD’s recommended policy regarding dissemination of findings. -          Upholding the mission and goals of SANAD.     Qualifications -          Holder of a bachelor degree in a related health field (A Master degree is a plus). -          At least 2 years of experience in a related health field; specifically in data collection, desk and field research, documentation, and report writing.  -          Knowledgeable of quantitative research methodologies.  -          Skills in administrative performance, which includes communication, both written and oral and organizational skills. -          Flexible, proactive, problem solver, trustworthy, and willing to accommodate for difficult and unexpected situations. -          Fluent in Arabic and English. French is an asset. -          Excellent knowledge of basic computer software such as Word and Excel.       [1] Policy sub-committee is headed by SANAD’s representative Mrs. Helen Samaha Nuwayhed
