Child Protection Coordinator

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as a Child Protection Coordinator. Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the job The CPC will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the Child Protection programming, provision of technical support, donor compliance and contribute to the development and consolidation of DRC CP programming in Lebanon Duties• Technical support: support, supervision and guidance to the CP team in line with CP best-practice and professional standard and principles through capacity-building and on-the-job training; • Grants monitoring:  Assist the field-based Protection managers in the assurance of donor compliance, including appropriate and timely spending of grants to achieve program goals, grants reporting contributions, use and distribution of supplies and resources; Prepare proposals to secure follow on or expansion funding for the CP program as per identified needs and in line with the Protection strategy;• Donor representation : represent DRC before relevant donors at Beirut and field levels on CP programming and CP-related issues, especially UNICEF; • Sector coordination: Activity participate in Child Protection in Emergencies Working Group, field-working groups and other relevant coordination groups (MHPSS, Case management, etc.); • Monitoring & Evaluation: Work closely with CP officer/Protection managers to develop and implement ethical and safe monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, including qualitative tools and analysis; Oversee and ensure analysis of results and guide CP staff to use these results to enhance program effectiveness and quality; About you To be successful in this role you must have University degree or higher education relevant to human rights: preferably in law, social sciences or humanitarian aid. Ability to organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including trainings for colleagues and partners is very essential in addition to having political and cultural awareness At least 5 years of proven experience in Child Protection, advocacy work, and refugee law; Working experience in conflict affected and fragile states in (emergency) psychosocial support projects and previous experience in the Middle East, and in Lebanon, are an asset. Ideally you will also have significant knowledge of International Human Rights Law, with stress on Refugee Law and previous experience with UNICEF or implementing emergency programs for UNICEF. You must be available to start work from March 2015 and be willing and able to work in Beirut with frequent travel to the fields. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level E1, equivalent to 2668 USD per month.
