Psychosocial Counsellor

  JOB DESCRIPTION   Job Title:                      Psychosocial Counsellor Location:                      South Lebanon (Sour and Saida District)    Background:  With the support and supervision of the Project Manager, the Assistant PM and the PSS Coordinator the Psychosocial Counselor is responsible for the day to day psychological support of the beneficiaries as well as providing specialized counseling support to Child Protection and SGBV cases.   Specific duties and responsibilities:  Prevention Component (Child Smart Bus (CSB) and activities with Youth):  -       Provide individual or group psychological support to the children attending the CSB and YC and involve the parents when necessary; -       Organize group sessions for parents/caregivers, applying different counseling techniques, including ventilations, etc.: 4 sessions per month for 20 caregivers each (each caregiver will attend 2 sessions) and if needed the psychologist will adapt the timing of the sessions to ensure the participation of the parents who are working, particularly for the men. -       If needed refer beneficiaries for case management to the case worker; -       Support/give training to CSB/YC Staff on how identify signs of possible psychological vulnerabilities in the children; -       Have regular meetings with the animators/Team leader; -       Participate in staff meetings as required;   Case Management: Under the direct responsibility of the Protection Officer National and in close collaboration of the Case workers the psychologist will:  -       Assist the caseworkers in the detection of most vulnerable cases. -       Provide a clinical assessment on identified cases of persons at risk and survivors (CP, SGBV and PwSN). -       The Psychologist will open individual files for survivors, monitor the service provision and ensure that cases under assistance receive all the care and support needed. -       Provide PoC (CP,SGBV and PwSN) identified with emotional support, ad hoc immediate assistance.  -       Psychologist will provide beneficiary/survivor access to immediate, safe and multi-sectoral services through referral, psychosocial support and quality case management for identified cases of SGBV, CP and PwSN; -       Support the development and establishment of internal and external referral and coordination mechanisms for assistance to PoC at risk or survivors of SGBV in close cooperation with UNHCR and other relevant actors   Reporting:  -       Produce and maintain accurate clinical records of the beneficiaries. -       Write technical reports on specific cases identified during the individual psychological support sessions. -       Cases files and technical reports must be archived in locked and secure location; access to them should be restricted only to relevant, authorized child protection program staff. -       Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of the planned individual and group psychological support intervention programs on the beneficiaries. -       Write weekly and monthly report for the project manager;    Meeting: -       Be available to participate in meetings at the centers or in Tyre INTERSOS Office. -       Be available to participate in meetings at UNHCR Office in Tyre; -       Meets with other project staff when required. -       Participate to trainings and workshops   Qualifications:  -       The qualified candidate must be a recognize psychologist;   -       3+ year experience implementing in the same position; -       Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support In Emergency Settings; -       Familiarity with CP Minimum Standard in Emergency; -       Strong organizational and supervisory skills with excellent reporting & writing skills; -       Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills; -       An excellent command of verbal and written English; -       Good knowledge word and excel; -       Driving license holder;    Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the INTERSOS officers in Tyre.  A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.  He/she knows INTERSOS Chart of Values, Code of Ethics and Child Protection Policy.
