Food Safety Training And Monitoring Consultant

  Background:                             Mercy Corps is implementing a school lunch program in areas schools in partnership with local food producers to address the issue of malnutrition in schools, as well as stimulating the local economy and increasing employment.   Purpose / Project Description: Mercy Corps is recruiting a Food Safety Expert for an upcoming School Lunch program in Lebanon. The Consultant will be responsible for the assessment and training of selected catering kitchen and staff to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of prepared food. The consultant will provide monthly monitoring visits to ensure compliance to safety standards.   Consultant Activities: Food safety gap analysis for selected catering organizations Action Plan in response to the Gap Analysis which areas of intervention and cost On-site training of food safety and handling practices Monthly monitoring and reporting visits to selected site(s)   Consultant Deliverables: The Consultant will: Food Safety Gap Analysis Action plan to mitigate violations and risks with costs. Training Plan for selected commercial kitchens Monitoring plan for monthly visits Monthly report on activities and findings.   Timeframe / Schedule:  Food Safety Gap Analysis  - Feb 23 Action plan to mitigate violations and risks with costs. Feb 28 Training Plan for selected commercial kitchens – March 1 Monitoring plan for monthly visits - TBD Monthly report on activities and findings. April 1 – May 1 – June 1   The Consultant will report to: Livelihoods and Economic Growth Advisor   The Consultant will work closely with: Program team   Qualifications B.A in Food Sciences or similar.
