PRESENTATION OF HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL Handicap International is an independent and impartial international aid organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. Working alongside persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, our action and testimony are focused on responding to their essential needs, improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights. Handicap International is a not-for-profit organization with no religious or political affiliation. It operates as a federation made up of a network of associations that provide it with human and financial resources, manage its projects and implement its actions and social mission.   For more details on the association: http://www.handicap-international.org   Handicap International is composed of 3 operational divisions: Emergency Response Division (ERD) Mines Division Development Division   MISSION CONTEXT   The Emergency Response Division in Lebanon was created in April 2012.  The provision of support to health structure is provided directly by Handicap International physiotherapist and technical advisor.  The identification, assessment of the needs, referral and direct provision of services is done trough 18 outreach teams (composed of one social worker as case manager and one physiotherapist supported by 4 psychologists and/or psychosocial workers) and trough 4 fixed points in the communities (in community centers to allow more efficiency reducing the time to reach the beneficiaries). An additional team in Bekaa and North Lebanon will be focusing on the community sensitization, training to humanitarian workers and the identification of potential local partners. In Lebanon, the provision of household essential items including food, NFI and unconditional cash assistance to cover essential winter basic needs of the most vulnerable refugee newcomers will be done in HI area of intervention (54 villages in Central and West Bekaa) through current dedicated outreach teams and distribution teams.   ACCOUNTABILITIES   Line manager: Project Officer............................................................................ Supervise: None In direct cooperation with: Other Mobile Teams (Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Psycho-social Worker).............   RESPONSIBILITIES   Objective 1: To ensure the quality of the assessment, the analysis and the reporting of psychological and psychosocial issues in the refugee population, in support to the social workers: Activities/Main duties: o    In collaboratio with the social workers, evaluate the needs of people identified with psychosocial and psychological issues and/or directly assess the needs as required. o    Write specific reports for critical cases. o    Write technical advices on referral forms to send to partners. o    In support to the social workers, analyse the needs at family and community level to prepare adapted group response. o    To contribute to the identification of training needs of the teams, especially the social workers, in order to improve their assessment skills.   Objective 2: To answer to the identified needs, by providing direct psychological and psychosocial support and refer internally and externally as needed, respecting confidentiality and the rights of the beneficiary: Activities/Main duties: o    To answer to internal referrals from the social workers for further psychological assessment. o    In collaboration with the social workers, to provide psychological (short term basic counselling) and psychosocial support at the individual and family level.  o    Refer beneficiaries with specific needs of specialized psychological support to external services and follow-up on all referrals, in coordination with your line manager, following the appropriate strategy of the project. o    Visit and discuss with beneficiaries before referring and ensuring mediation if needed with other stakeholders. o    In collaboration with the social workers, participate to mediation between beneficiaries and families or between families and other structures. o    Ensure a neutral and respectful position within mediation and in regard of HI mandates. o    Facilitate peer to peer approach, if possible. o    Organize and implement more specific psychosocial support activities through different methods including mediation activities such as different kinds of creative or recreational activities, group discussions, group daily activities, etc… o    Participate to the discussions and decision making in the frame of case management meetings.   Objective 3: To conduct specific psychosocial group activities (adapted and appropriate to each one’s specific needs and capacities): Activities/Main duties: o    Conduct discussion groups with individuals, families, hosting families and communities, neighbours. o    Conduct support groups with particular groups affected by the crisis such as injured people, isolated/discriminated people, etc.   o    When needed/possible, work with the partners and volunteers to create and implement social activities in the centres and the communities. o    Ensure a qualitative follow up of the beneficiaries participating to group activities.  o    Reporting of activities and evolution of the beneficiaries’ psychosocial situation.   Objective 4: To produce regular reports on activities, assessments, follow-up and other related documents to ensure the quality and reporting of the project: Activities/Main duties: o   Reports on a weekly basis about activities planned and implemented. o    Analyses and reports on beneficiaries’ psychosocial status. o    Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through the tools (assessment form, follow up form, group activity reporting tool, discharge form which includes the final assessment of the beneficiary’s psychosocial status) and system in place. o    Organization of the weekly plan within the multi-disciplinary team, with the support of DVFP PO. o    Any other reports to be made upon line manager’s request.   Objective 5: Participate and contribute to the analysis and reporting of global issues in the refugee population; and participation to impact surveys with a focus on psychosocial and psychological issues: Activities/Main duties: o    In formal and informal meetings with the team, participate to a qualitative analysis of the different kinds of issues, at individual, family and community level. o    Participate to report with the tools and the internal system all issues identified. o    Be part of a constructive holistic team to develop a qualitative analysis and response for disable and vulnerable people.   REQUIREMENTS Background & Experience: •      Bachelor degree in Psychology, Master Degree in Clinical Psychology would be an asset •      At least 2 years of Professional experience in the related field •      Experience with NGO, preferably in emergency context   Languages: Very Good Writing Skills in English and Arabic (French would be an asset) Computer skills: Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel, Word and Power Point.   Professional skills: •      Demonstrate good understanding of psychosocial issues related to the Syrian culture •      Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability issues and vulnerability in term of psychosocial consequences •      Good report writing skills •      Demonstrated effective communication, analytical and problem solving skills •      Ability to relate to the target group (be approachable, shows empathy) •      Ability to propose workable solutions and identify their implications (positive and negative) adapted to the psychosocial needs of beneficiaries   Personal skills: •      Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills •      Ability to work in a multicultural environment and in a multidisciplinary teamwork. •      Ability to work under high pressure with a great level of personal organization •      Diplomacy sense;
