General Practitioner: Non-communicable Diseases

Job Description
Job Summary
This Zahle based position contributes to the mission of the MTI by improving the care and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCD’s: diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, asthma, COPD) for Syrian refugees in selected informal tented settlements (ITS) in the central Bekaa valley.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and coordinate the care of all patients with non-communicable diseases in the mobile medical unit (MMU) service area
Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis and prevention of NCD
Prescribe drugs according to MTIs standard list
Maintain a registry of NCD patients.
Schedule rotation of ITS visits.
Maintain pharmacy and tracking databases
Supervise and train community health promoters for NCDs.
Facilitate community level NCD health education.
Monitor, evaluate, and report on NCD case management.
Facilitate referrals for NCD medications and monitor patient adherence.
Manage pharmacy stocks of NCD medications for MMU.
Essential Minimum Qualifications Required:
Medical degree
Minimum 1-2 years medical experience
Familiarity with chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, chronic respiratory disease)
Sensitivity to the needs of refugee beneficiaries
Ability to travel to remote project locations on a regular basis
Ability to evaluate and summarize project data into cohesive reports
Ability to work under pressure, managing a varied workload
Ability to work within a team and exhibit good communication efforts
Strong attention to detail and report writing skills
Skills in facilitating health education sessions
Proficiency in computer applications: Excel, Word, Email
Understand the mission of Medical Teams International
Desired Qualifications:
Arabic and English language skills
Prior international non-governmental organizational experience
Experience in public health programs
Experience with supportive supervision
