Technical Instructor (Architecture)   Location Siblin Training Centre Type of Appointment Fixed Term – Three Years (2 posts) Deadline for Application 26 January 2015 Vacancy Announcement Number 02/2015 Grade 10-12 Department/Division Education Department   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: (A)    Organizes and develops the subject of specialization; (B)    Ensures the proper implementation of the subject syllabus and the evaluation of its effectiveness under the direction of the supervisors concerned; (C)    Coordinates the teaching of the subject with subjects taught by other Instructors; (D)   Maintains records and controls different supplies of the section and  ensures proper utilization of the facilities and equipment; (E)    Participates in co-curricular activities in the Centre and in different summer courses when required; (F)    Participates with other staff members in maintaining order and discipline in the Center; (G)   Performs such other duties as may be assigned.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional i)    Technical Instructor "C" Grade 10               A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught. The staff member is subject to termination from the Agency’s service after three years from E.O.D if s/he fails to produce an evidence of having completed a training course of one year duration, qualifying him/her for Technical Instructor “B”.   ii)   Technical Instructor "B" Grade 11 (a)    A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught plus successful completion of a special professional teacher in-service training course of at least one year duration OR (b)    Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to his/her field of specialization or in education or psychology OR (c)    A university degree requiring at least five years of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught. The staff member is subject to termination from the Agency’s service after three years from E.O.D if s/he fails to    produce an evidence of having completed a training course of one year duration, qualifying him/her for Technical Instructor “A”.   iii) Technical Instructor "A" Grade 12 (a)    A university degree of four or five years of study with major specialization in the field of subject taught plus successful completion of a special professional teacher in-service training course of at least one year duration OR (b)    Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to his/her field of specialization or in education or psychology.       (B)   Experience i)    Technical Instructor "C" Grade 10               No experience.   ii)   Technical Instructor "B" Grade 11 (a)    Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor “C” for holders of university degrees of four years duration; (b)    No experience is required for Advanced degree holders; (c)    No experience is required for holders of university degrees of five years duration.   iii) Technical Instructor "A" Grade 12 (a)    Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor "B" for holders of relevant first university degrees OR (b)    Two years of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor "B" or "C" for holders of relevant advanced university degrees.   (C)   Language        Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.   (D)   Competencies i)    Ability to take initiative and maintain cordial relationship with all concerned; ii)   Ability to conduct and coordinate training events and develop the related curricula; iii)  Strong communication skills.   DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in the field of subject taught or in education or psychology.   CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: Monthly basic salary Grade 10: L.L. 1,724,195 - Grade 11: L.L. 1,796,839 - Grade 12: L.L. 1,936,660. Contract Duration: Fixed term –Three years  - To fill two vacant posts at Siblin Training Centre -   Holidays: 30 days annual leave (School Vacations) Dependency allowance: Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month     Dependent child: L.L 33,000 per month Pension:  Provident Fund contribution   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. After the deadline for receiving applications, all applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Office and the Hiring Department.  Only Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall be contacted and undergo technical/practical tests and the candidates with the highest passing scores will then be invited to interview (see “Technical and Practical Tests Required” below). The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates’ profiles.
