ABAAD PURPOSE: ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings.
The Syrian Voice and Accountability Project (SVA) is a project implemented by ABAAD-resource Centre for Gender Equality in partnership with Oxfam International in Lebanon (Tripoli, Middle Bekaa and Tyre). The project aims at empowering Syrian women and men refugees to become active agents in their communities though enhancing their preparedness to constructively engage in humanitarian, and development processes.
JOB PURPOSE: The Project Officer will handle the implementation of the project activities at community level and contribute to meeting the project objectives.
REPORTING LINES: Post holder reports to: Project Manager
DIMENSIONS:
Delegated authority to supervise the three community mobilizers and community groups and delegated projects/activities;
Required to make sound judgments regularly within agreed processes and frameworks using a good understanding of the community mobilizers and the context at the community level;
Expected to maintain communication channels, largely with internal staff, but also with some external actors and target audiences at community level to support operational work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the project implementation in line with the agreed action plan with the project Manager, and ensure timely responses;
Facilitate the implementation of the project activities against the work plan through coordination with the local community mobilizers, local community actors and with partners at community level;
Participate in the meetings with the project stakeholders at community level as requested by ABAAD Director;
Facilitate learning and linkages among group members and local communities and partner organizations at the local level;
Capture learning and document the work of successful stories, to ensure that the projects’ inputs are producing positive results in the lives of women and men beneficiaries;
Lead on specific training for community mobilizers and community members;
Contribute to the periodic monitoring of the project as well as learning reviews and ensure proper documentation;
Prepare payment requests, floats as needed;
Conduct administrative tasks, and coordinate activities at community level as planned, including training, workshops and awareness raising sessions;
Consolidate bi-weekly reports on the project implemented activities and enhance learning;
Assist in other tasks as requested by the Project Manager and as deemed necessary for programme development.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
University degree in social science or related discipline, including gender and development;
Proven track record of working in a similar capacity with NGOs in Lebanon;
Experience in field coordination, monitoring and follow up;
Experience in event coordination;
Highly skilled in report writing;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic including demonstrable ability to work with others and as part of a team;
Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, power point, and social media;
Good organizational skills;
Knowledge of gender and gender equality;
Effective member of team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards.
Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership);
Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
