Social Services Officer

The Social Services Officer is responsible for organizing and coordinating all psycho-social support activities at Van der Lugt Centre. She is the Focal Point referrals and in all Outreach activities.  Reports to and coordinates with the Project Director. Key Responsibilities Organizes training on necessary subjects. Aids in organizing a needs assessment of the people we serve and elaborate this assessment with the Project Director. Organize outreach for vulnerable and high-risk refugee, migrant and undocumented families. Organize support groups to assist refugees in understanding, dealing with and coping with their situations. Develop and supervise psycho-social programmes for vulnerable and high-risk persons. This may include skills-training and entertainment. Be the focal point for referrals and the main contact with other entities. Facilitate access and referral for cases of trauma and high-risk to competent professionals. Manage and administrate the facebook page, newsletter, and other communication material. Inform refugees of their rights, hand out information about other referral organizations, and provide a safe space for them. Work with lawyers and doctors to provide weekly and monthly support to refugees. Ensure prompt execution of other tasks which are within the ambit of the position which may be requested by the Project Director as needs occur. Relevant Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of working with children, women and families. Experience in giving trainings and writing short stories. Arabic and English are a must Experience in working with refugees is a plus.
