Education Specialist

General  The Education Specialist is responsible for the development, coordination and mainstreaming of Education programming within WCH  Lebanon and for creating linkages between WCH Education programming and the Ministry of Education, UN agency and other NGOs. The Education Specialist is expected to ensure the quality of the WCH Educational Programme all over Lebanon and contribute to the integral implementation of the Educational approach in all the projects.   Purpose of the job Focal point of expertise within WCH for Education programming Overall coordination and monitoring of Education programming areas/themes Implementing War Child quality standards and insuring that INEE minimum standards are being followed in all the Emergency Educational Programme. Position within the organisation The Education Specialist is part of the Quality Control Department  and reports from a line position directly to the Manager of PDM. Other essential relations are: The day-to-day (functional) management of the Specialist assigned to the Education area of coordination. This is a delegated management responsibility. Maintaining a close working relationship with other Specialists within the region , where specialist areas directly relate to the Education area of work. Maintaining a close working relationship with the thematic Specialists Maintaining a close working relationship with the CD, FLMs and PCs, gathering input for program development and monitoring, rolling out standards, methods and tools, advising on programming, facilitating exchange and learning and building the capacity of program staff; The Education Specialist maintains other working relationships in the organisation when needed, among others with Institutional Fundraising, Communications and Advocacy. Result areas 1. Define shared Education programming standards Based on WCH programming practice and international standards, ensure that WCH policy and standards for Education are developed/revised and remain up to date. 2. Develop Education methods and tools Based on Education policy/standards; ensure that (creative) methods and tools are developed for the implementation of WCH Education Programs. 3. Stimulate and monitor Education programming in country. Roll out Education standards and tools; Advise on Education program and project proposals (including those applying for institutional funds); Generate overview of quality of Education in WPAs: status, methods used and results achieved; Review Lebanon strategy, proposals, reports and evaluations. 4. Build capacity of Lebanon program staff and partners in Education programming Design/provide Briefings, Training of Trainers; and tailored trainings where needed and feasible; Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to program staff, in the field of education Link Lebanon initiatives; stimulate knowledge sharing and management. 5. Ensure linkage/integration with other thematic fields Liaise periodically with other thematic Specialists Ensure that Education area connects with other WCH areas of work Ensure use of uniform methods, tools and forms in activities, training and PME.  6. Externally represent, profile, and advocate for WCH Education themes Represent WCH externally, in relevant platforms/networks focused on Education programming Support the identification and packaging of Education advocacy issues 7.  Responsibility for Education programming results Lead in development and monitoring the  Education logical framework; and advise PCs and FLMs in order to generate WPA program results. Lead in definition of the annual results on Education work. Provide 4M report on Education achievements (on results) and developments in Lebanon, Give input to, monitor and account for the different budgets assigned to Education work   Knowledge Relevant academic background (Social Sciences / Didactic); Specialist knowledge of current principles and practices of formal and non-formal education with children in (post)conflict areas; Understanding of child rights (programming) in (post) conflict environments   Skills Ability to express himself/herself skilfully in written and oral English and fluent in Arabic. Strong critical analysis and strategic thinking skills; Leadership and coordination ability; Ability to provide (creative/interactive) trainings; Excellent communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback.
