Social Worker

-Scope of responsibility: Promotes improvements with regard to the social conditions faced by the MSF beneficiaries and their families; promotes networking among the humanitarian web for the beneficiaries to enhance their well-being. The social worker must ensure confidentiality in all the performed activities.   -Function responsibilities include: Network: Maintain and participate in network of partner organisations that can provide answers to social problems but also care to the needs of the beneficiaries.   Social activities: During home visits and in the structures in which MSF is working, the social worker is required to conduct the following activities: Understands and document experiences of refugees accessing health care. Identifies social, psychosocial, socio-economic needs and provides information/advise to the beneficiaries on existing social services responding to the needs detected and/or expressed by the beneficiaires and/or their families. Provides a prelimiary social assessment and the necessary care to beneficiaries accessing the MSF services. Refers most vulnerable beneficiaires to the relevant and appropriate professionals or institutions and follow up this referrals. Ensures case management if & when appropriate, for the most vulnerable cases. Follows-up defaulters.   Monitoring & reporting: Provides the supervisor with a monthly report of the activities executed. Keeps statistics updated.   Specific activities linked to context Has an updated overview of all service providers (health & non health) in the MSF areas of information. Implements the referral system established with other organizations by the supervisor and coordinates, follows up the referral with these partners. Actively participates medical meetings if required.
