PURPOSE OF POSITION
The WASH Services Officer will coordinate the implementation of the WASH projects activities in Bekaa Region specifically to ensure that the contracted services in the Informal Tented Settlements (ITS) and other refugee habitations are carried out, and in liaising with the Municipalities and other government bodies, ensure adequate services are provided to refugees in their habitations.
In order to perform this role effectively, the WASH Services Officer must be able to effectively communicate with the stakeholders and ensure quality services are provided to the target communities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Engagement and Networking
Develop and maintain close working relationship with municipalities in order to ensure adequate attention and ownership of tasks related to the WASH services (e.g. water trucking, sewage removal, solid waste management and removal) in the ITS and other refugees habitations.
Ensure that the municipalities (or private sector providers) collect both sewage and solid waste from the ITS and other refugee habitations and dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner.
Ensure that the appropriate service provider (e.g. government, private sector, land owners) provide quality and consistent water supply the ITS and other refugee habitations.
Develop contractual and monitoring documents related to the delivery of WASH services.
Review and improve WV’s operational model for the delivery of WASH services.
Coordination and capacity building
Coordinate with WVL staff and key stakeholders (e.g. municipalities, chiefs, suppliers, refugees, and WASH Committees) regarding WASH services in all its aspects.
Ensure that standards (e.g. environmental, quantity, quality) are followed during service provision.
Gather and share appropriate information that would enhance the project implementation
Coordinate all micro planning activities in the target areas
Reporting
Ensure that all WASH Services-related data (e.g. baseline assessments, activity monitoring) is well managed and provides an accurate representation of the reality on the ground.
Submit regular reports related to WV’s WASH Services-related interventions
