Outreach Consultant

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is recruiting a part-time Outreach Consultant. Under the supervision of the Project Officer and Program Manager, the Outreach Consultant is responsible for timely implementation of the planned activities.   Project Description: Title: "Promote a culture of Human Rights in Lebanon" The project’s approach is to give the opportunity to future journalists to express themselves freely and foster Human Rights culture and democracy in Lebanon through providing training opportunities and opportunity to get practical experience. The planned workshops will be a chance to introduce the values of objective reporting to journalism students and encourage them to apply for an internship program as part of the project. Human Rights events will be organized in collaboration with Universities’ Human Rights/Peace Clubs, where the participants of the internship program will be able to present their research, thus, promote the value of objective reporting as a pillar of democracy.   Project Time-frame: This is a one year project that starts on November 01, 2014. Three workshops, four university events and a press conference is due during this time. The Outreach Consultant will be working for 2 weeks prior to each workshop/event/press conference, totaling 16 weeks of work. The workshops are planned for December, February and April; the events will be between March 2015 and October 2015; the press conference is planned for September 2015. The salary of the Outreach Consultant will be per working week (250$ per week).   Job Responsibilities & Tasks: - Contribute to development of Outreach plan;   - Establish contact with selected Universities and respective Human Rights/Peace Clubs; - Generate interest in students' participation in planned events/workshops; - Establish contact with local media and inform them about the project; - Generate interest in media reporting and coverage of the planned events/workshops; - Participate in event/workshop planning; - Support and participate in project's awareness raising; - Collaborate in development of event/workshop evaluation; - Produce outreach materials;   Qualifications and skills required: - Prior outreach experience is an asset; - Excellent communication skills; - Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Photoshop); - Awareness raising/Media experience; - Good writing and social skills; - Full proficiency in Arabic AND English is mandatory; - Previous journalism experience is an asset;   - Prior experience in working with NGO's is a plus.   Please note that since the project's target will be journalism students, freelance journalists are encouraged to apply.
