A. Function: Medical/Surgical Field officer (MFO)
The MFO works under the supervision of the ICRC Senior surgeon and the ICRC Hospital administrator. She/he contributes to the organization of the practical selection process of elective and/or non- life-threatening (semi cold) cases to be admitted for treatment in Al Chiffae hospital Tripoli. Furthermore she/he coordinates all transportation matters and admission procedures that may arise regarding the already selected cases with the respective Sub-delegation, Health delegates, the LRC, the senior surgeon and the hospital administrator. On discharge of patients he monitors and contributes to organize the procedure for patients on their way back again in collaboration with the same other participants mentioned above.
He is responsible for the collection of hospital data that are required on a regular base.
B. Main responsibilities
Responsible for the conduction a complete and appropriate pre- selection process of candidates for elective and semi-elective surgeries in Al Chiffae hospital.
Responsible for the organization of a timely and correct transportation procedure of selected patients from their place of origin to the hospital and back
Responsible to correctly collect relevant hospital data when required
C. Main tasks
- Medical Liaison Officer will:
Help to establish patients’ files and medical evaluations together with the Health delegates in Tripoli (postoperative centres). If required this maybe in other locations as well.
Collect all the medical files sent by the HD/FO (Beeka/Tyr)
Hand over pre-selected patient files to the senior surgeon for examination/ approval
Take all necessary organizational steps to facilitate the flow of patients, based on clinical needs, priorities and waiting lists.
Liaise with the hospital ICRC administrator and Head nurse to accommodate patients according to space. The final organizational green-light is given by the ICRC hospital administrator
Provide a feed-back to the field and organize the transportation in collaboration with the Health delegates or LRC (LRC or ICRC vehicle)
Organize the discharge procedure and transportation of the patient in collaboration with the Health delegates or LRC (LRC or ICRC vehicle)
Collection of patient`s medical documentation after discharge and hand-out to patient
Inform HoSD of planned transportations at least 3 days before (Beeka/Tyr)
Liaise and maintain good working contacts with the Syrian milieu in Tripoli an elsewhere
2. Administration/management
Collect hospital statistical data as indicated on a regular base.
