Senior Registration Assistant - G5 - Hr327 - Tyr (Unops Contract)

Responsibility, (process and functions undertaken to achieve results) 1. Counsel individual asylum-seekers and refugees to manage their expectations on protection, assistance and durable solutions; 2. Identify vulnerable asylum-seekers and refugees. 3. Conduct protection interviews, maintain registration and counselling database and provide regular input on daily actions specified above. 4. Ensure quality and integrity of information captured at registration, notably through review of registered cases and follow up with respective functional units. 5. Identify cases not eligible for registration through in-depth interviews and maintain protection spread sheet. 6. Ensure constant and accurate upkeep of data (physical and electronic) to reflect status of persons of concern by checking that all "proGres" data fields are filled in properly. Manage and update refugee files as necessary. 7. Compile periodic registration statistical reports and circulate them to all concerned parties, including external parties. Analyze data to ensure data quality and integrity, and report trends and issues as required. 8. Participate in continuous verification of asylum-seekers including physical verification of refugees and asylum-seekers 9. Draft routine correspondence based on instructions provided by the supervisor or based on background information available on office files; and act as interpreter and translator when needed. Authority, (decisions made in executing responsibilities and to achieve results) - Refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as necessary. - Provide guidance to registration assistants on matters of protection, eligibility, and assistance.

* ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Define the educational background, the relevant job experience and the language(s) that are essential to perform the work of the position.
- University degree in Law, Political Science, Social Sciences or related fields;
- Minimum 4 years of previous job experience relevant to the function;
- Fluency in English and Arabic. French is an asset.
- Strong drafting and analytical skills.
* DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES. Describe any experience or knowledge that would be an asset, such as: UNHCR Learning Programmes, other training, additional languages, Field/HQs experience, etc.
- Previous experience in UN/UNHCR
- Good knowledge of “proGres” (HCR database for reintegration of refugees, returnees and displaced persons).
- Completion of UNHCR learning programmes or specific training relevant to functions of the position
- Interest in humanitarian work and good knowledge of human rights and refugee issues.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and work in a difficult context.
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Excellent drafting skills in Arabic and English.
