Community Health Distribution Assistant

Summary and Background: The Community Health Distribution Assistant has a hybrid role.  His or her time is expected to be divided between two major areas of activity: providing health education and awareness to communities, and supporting distribution activities of the health team. Place in the Organization The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Health Education Officer-Bekaa and is under her supervision. In matters of security planning, the Community Health Distribution Assistant will also receive direct oversight and guidance from the Health Area Manager. Functions and responsibilities Under the guidance of the Health Education Officer, the Community Health Distribution Assistant will support the overall work of the Health Education team in Bekaa to conduct awareness sessions and ensure orderly and security distribution of Non-Food Items (NFIs). Outreach and Awareness Activities Provide health education sessions for refugees and host community on different topics including healthy nutrition practices, personal hygiene, ARI, diarrhea prevention, vaccination, anti lice and anti scabies campaign, family planning and any topics suggested by the HEPM, HEO and the HEFA. Prepare individual and group educational sessions using the evaluation tools provided, pre/post tests, for 50% of attendees. Correct the pre and post tests done at the beginning and end of each educational session. Attend training sessions and workshops required to build capacity and knowledge. Planning and Execution of Distribution of NFIs Provide ongoing support and coordination to health education team regarding planning and implementation of distribution of NFIs. In close collaboration with Bekaa Security Focal Point, conduct on-site assessment of all sites where distributions are planned. In partnership with Community Health Worker or Community Health Educator working at the site, ensure community leaders are actively engaged in distribution planning and best practices for preparation are carried out. Complete appropriate checklists and planning tools to ensure a secure and orderly distribution process. Conduct day-of briefings with drivers and program staff to ensure all parties are aware of plans. Attend training provided by the logistics department on the “Distribution and Security Procedure” (DSP). Provide regular updates to logistics department ensure protocols, procedures and policies for secure distributions are maintained and  followed up on during distribution activities.. Develop professional relationships with municipalities and other security personnel for the purposes of ensuring support and back-up if needed. Keep in close contact with Bekaa Security Focal Point and Beirut Security Manager.   Reporting and Coordination Report the weekly and monthly achievement on a weekly and monthly basis Work together with the HEO and HEFA and meet on monthly basis to follow up and evaluate the work achieved. General Attend security training (Hostile Environment Training (HET) and First Aid Training (FAT)) or other security related training. Perform other duties immediately relevant to deliverables outlined above. Adhere to all of IMC’s policies and procedures, including Code of Conduct and SOPs
