Background:
With the support and supervision of the Project Manager, the Youth Support Officer and Protection Officer the Psychosocial Counselor is responsible for the responsible for the day to day psychological support of the beneficiaries.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Child Friendly Space (CFS), Child Smart Bus (CSB/ Youth Center (YC) :
- Provide individual or group psychological support to the children attending the CFS, CSB and YC and involve the parents when necessary;
- If needed refer beneficiaries for case management to the case worker;
- Support/give training to CFS/CSB/YC Staff on how identify signs of possible psychological vulnerabilities in the children;
- Have regular meetings with the animators/Team leader;
- Participate in staff meetings as required;
Case Management:
- If needed refer beneficiaries for case management to the case workers;
- Provide a clinical assessment on selected cases;
- Provide psychological support to cases referred by the case workers;
- If needed go with the case workers during the home visits;
Reporting:
- Produce and maintain accurate clinical records of the beneficiaries.
- Write technical reports on specific cases identified during the individual psychological support sessions.
- Cases files and technical reports must be archived in locked and secure location; access to them should be restricted only to relevant, authorized child protection program staff.
- Set up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of the planned individual and group psychological support intervention programs on the beneficiaries.
- Write weekly and monthly report for the project manager;
Meeting:
- Be available for participates in meeting in the centre or in Tyre INTERSOS Office.
- Meet with other program staff as require
Qualifications:
- The qualified candidate must be a recognize psychologist;
- 3+ year experience implementing in the same position;
- Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support In Emergency Settings;
- Familiarity with CP Minimum Standard in Emergency;
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills with excellent reporting & writing skills;
- Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills;
- An excellent command of verbal and written English;
- Good knowledge word and excel;
- Driving license holder;
Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the INTERSOS officers in Tyre.
A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.
