Education Assistant (Zahle)

ROLE PURPOSE: As a member of the Education in Emergencies team, the Education Assistant will be responsible for implementing the Education in Emergencies programme interventions for affected communities under the supervision of the Education Officer. The Education Assistant will work towards ensuring the programme is of a high technical quality, monitoring processes are in place, that timely reporting occurs, and that the programme is continually assessed and solutions quickly put in place for a change of context. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Programme Implementation Support With the Education in      Emergencies team, finalize operational work plans, understand clear targets      and activity plans per school and CBE locations. Is responsible for      implementing CBE activities, and monitor assigned Fisrt and Second Shift      schools, under the supervision of the Education Officer and will provide      technical support as needed. Liaise on a daily basis      with partners, communities, school, Save the Children Area Manager and      supervisor to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme. Work directly in the field      with children, families and other stakeholders of the project location he/      she is allocated to, and provide information and advise beneficiaries on      existing social services. Assist in the organization      and implementation of awareness sessions for children, adolescents,      parents and communities. Lead on outreach      activities, and assist in the organization and implementation of trainings      and workshops. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the project targeted children. Inform the direct supervisor about any difficulty met in the activities implementation. Monitoring and Evaluation Participate in Education-specific monitoring and evaluating project activities in CBE and First and Second Shift schools for children. Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the project and schools. Ensure that data is collected on a weekly and monthly basis and according to the provided guidelines. Regularly visit project sites to ensure that implementing partners and teachers are appropriately supported.   Child Protection Ensure a strict adherence to the principles      of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality      and a child centred approach and to act in the best interests of the      child. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least two years experience in Education, preferably in an NGO environment or educational setting. Bachelors degree in Education, Development, or      another Social  Science.  Understanding      of government institutions, particularly the public school and social      welfare systems. Ability to analyze information, evaluate      options and to plan strategically. A demonstrated understanding of  national       development  issues,  in particular in relation to children      and Education. Strength in interpersonal, communication and      presentation skills. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, good      written and spoken English and an advantage of French language skills. Ability      and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming      teams in the event of major emergencies.
