Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon. Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa: Education Officer ROLE PURPOSE: Will be responsible for the implementation of the Education in Emergencies programme under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. The Education Officer will work to ensure the programme is of a high technical quality, that monitoring processes are in place, that timely reporting occurs, and that the programme is continually assessed and solutions quickly put in place should there be a change of context.   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Programme Implementation Support Ensure timely and quality implementation of the Education in Emergency components, particularly non-formal education programmes, providing technical assistance as needed. With the Education in Emergencies team, ensure the establishment and implementation of operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per school/programme site. Communicate the targets, programme objectives and activity plans clearly to the education team as well as to teachers, parents and children, ensuring they are well understood. Liaise on a daily basis with partners, communities (relevant authorities, parents-teachers associations), schools (directors, teachers etc.) and the Save the Children Education Coordinator and Assistants to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme. Conduct awareness sessions with families and other stakeholders in the programme location and set up community mechanisms to ensure their support of the non-formal education programme. Ensure regular monitoring, data collection and reporting of activities is done. Lead on outreach activities and awareness sessions for children, adolescents, parents, education personnel and communities at large, and assist in the implementation and facilitation of trainings and workshops. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the programme targeted children and programme objectives. When required, work directly in the field with children, families and other stakeholders of the assigned programme location, providing information and advising beneficiaries on existing education activities and other social services, referring them to partners when required. Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and a child centred approach and to act in the best interests of the child.   Monitoring and Evaluation Lead the monitoring and evaluation process of the Education in Emergencies activities. Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities in each site/school, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learnt. Ensure that data is accurately collected by the education team on a weekly and monthly basis. Regularly visit programme sites to ensure that partners, teachers and the community at large are appropriately supported and that qualitative and quantitative programme objectives are achieved.   Adherence to Save the Children policies and procedures Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures. Integrity: Is honest, encourages openness and transparency.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least three years’ experience in education, preferably in an (I)NGO environment or educational setting. Prior teaching experience is an asset. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development/Humanitarian Studies, Social Science or Information Management.  Excellent computer skills; knowledge of excel and other data entry programmes. Demonstrated ability to analyse a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data and to develop data bases and data collection tools. An understanding of formal and non-formal education, national development issues, in particular in relation to children and education, of government institutions and the Lebanese public school system. Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to plan strategically. Proven track record in managing teams and timely and quality delivery of (education) programmes. Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English. French language skills are an asset. Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work in an insecure volatile context. Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches.
