Child Protection Assistant - Zahle

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate to coordinate and collaborate with the other protection team. Who are we DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade , running a combination of livelihood , protection ,advocacy and relief projects .DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Syria , Tunisia/Libya , Turkey , and both a country and regional office in Jordan . Since May 2011, DRC has been actively involved in the Lebanon emergency response to the Syrian crisis with presence in the North , East (Bekaa valley ) and South of Lebanon. . The DRC response is designed around 4 majors sectors: Food /NFI distribution, Protection , Shelter and livelihood support . As such, DRC is positioned in Lebanon as a main implementing partner of UNHCR , UNICEF , WFP , ECHO and DANIDA , implying a rapid expansion of its programme and structure. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the job You will do the overall organization and provision of psychosocial support activities in centre-based Child Friendly Spaces and through mobile team operated Child Friendly Spaces.   Duties To organize psychosocial support activities for most vulnerable children, based on best interest and needs of children; To supervise mobile recreational and awareness activities in informal tented settlements, collective centres and other community spaces by creating a safe setting where children can express their feelings and needs; To supervise and monitor the work of the animators (who implement the PSS and recreational activities); To support and facilitate transport of children to and from psychosocial activities; Conducts home visits for children at risk identified through the activities, when required; To engage with communities in order to promote children rights and advocate for children participation in PSS activities; To work closely with parents and advocating for children well being and organizing parenting skills activities Closely follow up individual child participation in activities and identify children with special needs; To refer children in needs of case management to CP case workers in case of need and upon the positive written consent from the child and caregiver; To identify materials required for activities preferred by children and request for procurement; To report to the CP officer as soon as she/he suspects or observe or informed a child or children are at risk of abuse or being mistreated;  To set up necessary measures and proper environment to ensure confidentiality during identification, intervention and referral of CP cases; Providing awareness sessions, guidance, emotional support when needed; Disseminating and sharing information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services; Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies); Identifies and refers individual or families with material or financial assistance needs when according to DRC’s financial assistance guidelines in consultation with the CP officer; Keeping good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders; Closely coordinating with other relevant staff on protection issues (in all departments).   About you To be successful in this role you must have  a bachelor degree in social work , counseling , psychology or other related field, full knowledge about child protection and GBV, Very good communication skills with children, caregivers and local stakeholders , at least 2 years of experience in provision of psychosocial support activities mainly with children, experience working as or with animators;   Ideally you will also have Master degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field, Very good reporting skills , Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings , previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon     We offer An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract till 31st of December 2014, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 22nd of September and be willing and able to work in Zahle. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at level B4, equivalent to 1385 USD per month.
