  A.   Background The Syria Needs Analysis Project (SNAP) is a partnership by ACAPS and MapAction aimed at supporting the humanitarian response by providing an independent analysis of the humanitarian situation of those affected by the Syrian crisis.  SNAP was established in December 2012 and is based in Beirut, with remote analysts in Turkey and Jordan.  SNAP aims to improve the shared situational awareness across the whole humanitarian community, including humanitarian decision-makers and operational staff, by providing an accessible overview of the context and humanitarian situation and facilitating increased coordination of assessment activities. SNAP produced mainly 3 type of reports: The Regional Analysis for Syria (RAS) (quarterly) and the RAS Brief (Monthly) Scenarios paper Thematic reports For the purpose of this tender it is recommended that applicants download one sample of each of the above mentioned report from the ACAPS website. B.   Term of References   1. Purpose: The purpose of the consultancy is twofold: 1) To provide SNAP with professionally designed layouts for its reports respecting ACAPs and Map Action graphic identity, 2) to Propose solutions for enhancing the infographic part of the SNAP reports   2. Objectives: 1)    Develop layouts for the SNAP reports that will allow easier navigation through the contents, easier capture of key information for the reader and make SNAP reports easier to digest with software solution and relevant guidance   2)    Develop an infographic library and propose infographic solutions so as to strengthen key messages and information provided within SNAP reports via better visualisation approach   3. Expected outcome: 1)    3 Layouts ready for use for each of different type of SNAP reports approved by the SNAP Team Leader with relevant guides and software recommendation 2)    Infographic library is developed 3)    Infographic approaches/methods are defined for the key information/themes/topics that SNAP produces in its reports   4. Methodology   1)    Based on the type of SNAP products (A, B and C as described below), the applicants should provide 3 layout mock ups. The applicants must propose layouts that are in line with the spirit of the actual reports design to ensure consistency with other SNAP/ACAPS products. The applicant will be responsible to collate the various pieces of the RAS and to put it together within the new approved template. Applicants must factor this elements, when putting their proposal together.   6)    For the infographic, it is recommended to research what is in practical use within the international humanitarian community. The selected applicants will have to liaise with ACAPS communication and ACAPS graphic designer to ensure consistency, especially for icons choices or other infographic that are also in use for other ACAPS report for the rest of the word.   C.   Eligibility and application procedure   SNAP/ACAPs is seeking an expert in graphic design and infographic. The expert must be able to deliver the stated outputs according to international humanitarian principles.   Applicant Requirements:   Essential Requirements: University degree in graphic design, infographic, communication or similar field Have a proven track record of at least 5-7 years in similar assignments Excellent proficiency in English (spoken and written) Proficiency in using computer applications (Adobe InDesign, word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, project planning, e-mail, graphics etc.)   Desirable:        Good knowledge of the humanitarian world  Proficient in Arabic (spoken and written) Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented work style Good written and oral communication skills Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision
