Technical Expert/consultant For Education In The Field Of Disability

THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTANCY:   World Vision Lebanon is looking for a short term professional expert with a strong background and experience in Education in the field of disability.  The consultant’s main role will be to plan a training and train kindergarten staff and management within Palestinian communities to create an inclusive environment that caters to the specific needs of children with disabilities.     REQUIRED TASKS:   Overall The Consultant will lead the training by providing a detailed plan, and suggesting experts in the field of disability to cover needed training material (Psychologist, Psychomotor expert, Speech therapist…).The training shall focus on the following topics: Designing activities that enhance the Children with Disability (CWDs) learning and cognitive abilities, understanding the CWDs’ health needs, fostering relationships between the CWDs and other children in the class, advising and interacting with parents of CWDs, and monitoring the progress of CWDs in their classes. The Consultant, shall provide a refresher course for selected shadow teachers within the scope of the project.     Specific Required Tasks   Planning, suggesting experts and giving a training workshop in three regions (Beirut, North, and South Lebanon) for a total of 75 teachers and KG management staff about adapting programs to be more inclusive of CWDs. Provide one refresher session for 5 shadow teachers in providing CWD – related support and advice to existing teachers. Have one evaluation meeting with shadow teachers on challenges and progress of KG staff in dealing with CWDs upon the end of the first school term. Provide one refresher course for the 75 teachers and Management staff upon the end of the first school term. Submit one final report for WV upon the end of trainings and refresher courses emphasizing on further training needs of KG Staff and of shadow teachers.     CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   The Consultant should have the following competencies and experiences:   -          Significant technical experience in Education programs within the scope of disability or learning difficulties. -          Advanced degree in relevant education field (e.g Special Education, etc). -          Demonstrated knowledge on project cycle management and log frame approach. -          Familiar with civil society and NGO engagement.   -          Good analytical and critical thinking. -          Good reporting skills.   DURATION OF THE CONSULTANCY:     The consultant will provide services for WVL as needed during the period from August 15th 2014 until February 28th, 2015.       Task Timeline Provide 3 day training for 75 KG staff (divided among Beirut, South Lebanon and North Lebanon) August 22nd 2014 Provide one refresher session for 5 shadow teachers in providing CWD – related support and advice to existing teachers. August 29th 2014   Have an evaluation meeting with shadow teachers on challenges and progress of KG staff in dealing with CWDs.     January 2015 Provide one refresher course for the 75 teachers and Management staff after the first school term ends.     January 2015 Submit one final report for WV upon the end of trainings and refresher courses emphasizing on further training needs of KG Staff and of shadow teachers, challenges and possible solutions.   February 2015
