Counsellor In Mental Health Activities

  Scope of responsibility: Under the responsibility of the medical team leader and the psychologist The counsellor performs comprehensive counselling and education to patients; according to context either in mental health activities or in NCD activities Activities: Will be in charge of counseling the patients with mental and emotional disorders, as well as NCD patients, or any other patient in the clinic, helping them to cope with their diagnosis and the situation they are living, especifically in Abou Samra MSF clinic and for the patients referred from the MSF medical team. In collaboration and with the technical support from the psychologist he will provide individual or groupal sessions for the patients presenting a specific mental health condition Will be involved in the referral process for mental health services to other NGOs in full collaboration with the social workers and the medical team Will actively participate with the health education activities, helping the Health Promotion and medical team to provide the patients with guidance, orientation and counseling. Provide on-going follow-up to patient with mental health problem.   At all-time be available to liaise with clinic’s medical personnel for the benefit of the patients Attend regular case reviews/team meetings, and trainings as directed by supervisor. Contribute with any relevant information in regard to cases discussed in accordance with principles of confidentiality, along with input in order to improve the overall management of the department. Keep statistics updated about his/her activity in contributing to data collection as required, and in a monthly basis. Reports all important information linked to counselling activities that should be communicate to the hierarchy Must be prepared to undertake any additional training that MSF deems appropriate and necessary
