Team Leader (Contributing Towards Ensuring Food Security For Vulnerable Conflict-Affected Syrian Refugees In Lebanon)

Based in West Bekaa (possibly in the Ghazze area) with daily movements to the field, the Team Leader (TL) will make sure that his/her team - composed of a number of sub-teams of 2 enumerators/monitoring officers each - achieves their daily target on the number of Syrian refugees’ households (HHs) / shop keepers to be interviewed and assessed to collect correct and reliable information according to their specific role in the survey. The success of the data collection and the whole data reliability depends on the skills of every enumerator/field monitoring officer, his/her ability to conduct the related tasks and the TL’s competence to make sure that both the quantitative and qualitative targets are met on a daily basis. The TL will mentor, train, assess and organise his/her team and report to the Project Manager on a daily basis on any issue that might arise, already arouse, and lessons learned both at team and interview/survey management level. The TL will manage the list, number and location of HHs / shop keepers to be interviewed in any given day, assign the HHs/shops to each team who will have to liaise accordingly to the HH members / shop keepers to arrange the time of the interview, making sure that no time is wasted and the daily target is consistently reached.  In line with the TL’s required accountability, the TL will also conduct random household / shops interviews him/herself on a daily basis to double-check the quality and possible bias of the data collected by the teams. The TL will be proficient in the use of any ANDROID device (smartphones and tablets) that will be used to send, to a central server, the data collected in digital formats. In brief, the TL is responsible for coordinating and organising the overall deployment of the teams of enumerators / field monitoring officers in the field, training them and assessing the quality of the data collected at household/shop level, reporting to the Project Manager on a daily basis on issues and targets. The TL will also be fully responsible for his/her own agenda, in order to inform on a daily basis and on a timely manner (at least 1 day before the interviews take place) the relevant members of the municipalities hosting the HHs/shops and in which the interviews will be conducted.  The TL is also in charge of INTERSOS representation and coordination at field level. INTERSOS invites local candidates WITH REGULAR LEBANESE WORKING PERMIT to apply for the position of Team Leader, to support INTERSOS activities to contribute towards ensuring food security for vulnerable conflict-affected Syrian refugees in Lebanon.   Women are kindly invited to apply for this position.   NOTE: Candidates are asked for flexibility in terms of working hours and days of work (Saturdays and Sundays included if necessary). CANDIDATES MUST HAVE A VALID LEBANESE DRIVING LICENSE (minimum 3 YEARS from date of issue).   SPECIFIC DUTIES: Coordinate the implementation of survey/verification/monitoring activities in accordance with INTERSOS guidelines and program objectives; Ensure coordination with team leaders assigned to different areas in West Bekaa and Rachaya districts, with all the actors involved in the survey/verification/monitoring; Represent and explain the project and its objectives correctly to his/her team; Coordinate, manage and guarantee host municipalities awareness, ensuring that the relevant municipalities are constantly informed of date and location of interviews in due time; Organize the assignment of HHs / shops: receiving the lists, preparing lists, identifying locations, informing HHs members / shop keepers , selecting daily targets (for example by location) for the enumerators, etc…; Follow-up and report complaints; Manage, plan and lead his/her team with their activities, resolving internal conflicts, and making sure that time and resources from his/her team are always optimised; Assist the Project Manager in DETAILED PLANNING AND REPORTING of assignment and monitoring activities, preparing and updating survey plans; Identify HHs/shops location; Represent INTERSOS in the field, at the municipalities and with the donor(s); Data Collection: supervise, plan and organise the extensive number visits to rural and urban areas, tent settlements, etc…; Verify if all questions have been asked by the enumerators/monitoring officers and that the recorded answers are clear, correct and without bias; Make absolutely sure that the team respects the time required for data collection, breaks and meals; Maintain constant contact with team members and beneficiaries (receive their requests, provide available information, etc.); Perform all other necessary actions for the functioning and success of the project in order to deliver assistance to the designated beneficiaries; Respect the total confidentiality of the data collected; Ensure to never speak about data out of the survey project and security of the records and files; Follow security measures; Evaluate and mentor the assigned staff, also organizing and performing regular monitoring and writing reports; Participate to the briefing and debriefing sessions and to the organization of the weekly plan with the teams, under the Project Manager supervision; Write regular report reports on progress of activities; Report weekly activity; Develop implementation methodology in coordination with the Project Manager; Participate and support the Project Manager in information sharing and coordination activities amongst project counterparts; Be committed to participate to any other task in order to achieve the project overall objective; Assess lessons learned, feasibility and modality of the survey/verification/monitoring exercise.   Knowledge, Skills and Requirements: Bachelor Degree in any discipline related to the profile (please explain in the application email why you think your education background is appropriate); Must be able to train and manage a team (to listen, to advise, to support, to solve conflicts, to motivate, etc …); Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting; Advanced knowledge of Ms Excel; Very good organisational and prioritisation skills; Experience in the field of surveys; VALID LEBANESE DRIVING LICENSE (minimum 3 YEARS from date of issue); Knowledge of humanitarian principles and good knowledge of the region and local languages; Capability to establish with the persons and families a good and respectful contact in order to ensure the quality of interviews; Good physical fitness to walk distances if necessary; Patience, good personal organisation, good communication and ability to work in teams, seriously, rigorously and personal accountability; Very good Interpersonal and Diplomatic Skills in client/beneficiaries-facing situations; Initiative, flexibility and willing to learn; Ability to work under time pressure, independently, and with limited supervision; Very good IT skills (ANDROID phones, Microsoft Word and Excel); Good level of numeracy; Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is a must.   EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field and in a related position. Preferably more than 3 years’ experience in managing people, organising the job of subordinates and mentoring them.   START DATE: As soon as possible
