Purpose
The School Education on Coexistence Department at Adyan is recruiting a Non-Formal Education (“NFE”) Coordinator to manage the department’s non-formal education projects and activities, mainly the “Alwan School Program” in its 2014/2015 edition “Education on Living Together through Civic Engagement”.
Organizational Background
Adyan is an independent non-governmental organization working in the field of intercultural and interreligious dialogue and understanding and promoting coexistence and inclusive citizenship in pluralistic societies.
The School Education on Coexistence Department (“SEC-D”) at Adyan works for the integration of education on religious pluralism, citizenship and coexistence in Lebanese schools. The department operates on different levels and areas of work:
Development of pedagogical materials on citizenship, religious pluralism and coexistence.
Youth empowerment as active citizens in the peace-building process.
Vocational training for youth educators to equip them with needed skills and competences of education on citizenship and religious pluralism.
Public reform program targeting the Lebanese educational policies in relation with citizenship and coexistence education.
Research and publications on education on citizenship and coexistence.
“Alwan” is an award-winning educational program integrated in Lebanese private and public high-schools in the form of youth clubs and aiming to foster the role of youth as active citizens for peacebuilding in the framework of inclusive citizenship.
Main Responsibilities
The NFE Coordinator will:
Contribute to the design, monitoring and evaluation planning of the NFE projects and activities of the SECD, including Alwan program.
Be responsible for the overall implementation of the program activities that are under his/her responsibility in coordination with SECD programs manager.
Monitor Alwan’s implementation in schools based on project timetable and objectives as per set M&E plan.
Be responsible for communication and continuous coordination with field partners, including responding to schools’ and organizations’ requests for workshops or sessions.
Prepare and lead meetings with partner schools’ directors and teachers, mainly schools implementing Alwan and provide technical support when needed.
Contribute to the design of the program’s communication plan and implement it in coordination with Communication Officer (online, offline), mainly for regular Adyan website and social media channels updates and Alwan Facebook page management.
Submit regular internal reports, meeting minutes and financial reports on regular basis to the SECD programs manager.
Prepare the narrative and financial reporting related to the program activities that are under his/her responsibility.
Handle the documentation and data filing related to the program activities that are under his/her responsibility (documents, pictures, recordings) in soft and hardcopies.
Collaborate with co-workers and external experts engaged in the program activities that are under his/her responsibility.
Comply with administrative and financial procedures and policies in implementing program activities and related tasks.
Reporting Relationships and Protocol of Communication
The NFE Coordinator reports to the SEC-D Programs Manager and participates to regular meetings with him/her
The NFE Coordinator collaborates with other colleagues for the implementation, financial duties other administrative affairs.
The NFE Coordinator collaborates with the Communication and Media Officer for the program’s communication plans and their implementation.
The NFE Coordinator is part of the Adyan operational team and participates to the CFT (Cross-functional team) meetings lead by the foundation’s CEO.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and experience
University degree (preferably a Master’s degree) in Education or a related field in Humanities, Religious Studies or Social Sciences with interest and familiarity about citizenship issues and cultural diversity.
3-5 years of experience in managing education field programs, in the areas of Citizenship, peacebuilding and/or religious diversity education.
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic; French is a plus.
Computer skills (excellent in Office: Word, Excel…, Internet communication and navigation).

Job Specifications
Contract type : Full-time employment (42.5 hours / week)
Contract duration : 13 months (July 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015)
