British Council Lebanon is part of the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region and operates within the framework of MENA regional ESBU strategy. The Marketing Team in Lebanon is supported by regional Marcomms posts.
In Lebanon, our English Strategic Business Unit (ESBU) consists of three teams: the Teaching Centre, UK Qualifications and English Projects. The Teaching Centre classes are currently designed for adults, with summer school programmes for children between 8 and 16 years old
The UK Qualifications Department offers a range of English language and professional UK qualifications. The project team designs and delivers grant and partner funded projects in the areas of English language policy/strategy, teacher development and Self Access Learning (SAL).
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring that the ESBU achieves the maximum impact and meets its financial targets as well as Scorecard and audience targets. This includes collecting and analysing market intelligence (external and internal), planning and implementing marketing campaigns and communications strategies, monitoring performance and making appropriate adjustments to marketing strategies. The post will have a specific focus on supporting the growth of the Teaching Centre and the UK Qualifications Department.
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties: (including people management and finance)
Marketing Action Plans
• Develop and implement marketing action plans that deliver an integrated approach across the three English products (Teaching Centres, Exams, and English projects ) to deliver maximum impact and business returns, for the British Council
Market Analysis & Research
• Deliver continuous brand analysis including the market trends, the competitive environment, customer segmentation, customer needs, to create insight for findings marketing strategy and planning
Customer Retention
• Liaise with Customer Service Manager to analyse current customer data, evaluate the customer journey and accordingly develop strategies that address customer issues and enhance the customer experience
Marketing Campaigns
• Lead internal stakeholders and external marketing, PR and digital agencies on all English marketing and communication efforts, ensuring all campaigns are based on sound briefs that support business development and brand objectives, are customer-focused, closely adhere to brand guidelines and are produced to British Council standards
• Ensure that participation in fairs/exhibitions is in line with marketing strategy and that stands and all materials etc. displayed/distributed are appropriate
Branding
• Brand management across all British Council centres and partner premises where British Council English products and services are offered: including style of communication and British Council branding, and identity standards of the premises.
ROI
• Track performance of marketing campaigns through measurement and analysis to understand effectiveness and ROI
Budget control
• Monitor and analyse marketing spend against business and sales objectives and by product and segments
Personal development
Keep up to date with the latest digital communication developments and advise colleagues on their applicability for the British Council
Stays abreast of marketing and communication developments in Lebanon.
