Social Worker Mobile Unit

Assignment: Identify, refer to and follow-up the beneficiaries at community level. Run screening within targeted locations in Aarsal Required skills: Sense of confidentiality – Skilled activity leader - Good listening, good communication and adaptation capacity – Good relations with people – Have good empathy and be patient- Fluent English or French highly appreciate. Have a minimum knowledge on infant and young child care practices, including feeding and have the capacity and motivation to learn more in a short space of time.  Objective 1: Needs analysis and adapting approaches to cultural context: Activities : -       In collaboration with the nutritionist field officer, assess on a regular base IYCF practices among the Syrian refugee community settled in the intervention area. -       Determine which are the good practices and the practices that needs improvement among Syrian community. Objective 2: Support the implementation of nutrition individual counselling Activities : -       Through community based activities, refer women in need of breastfeeding or nutritional counselling to the nutritionist -       Run home visit and assessment for cases identify as in need of breastfeeding or individual counselling upon the nutrition field officer request Objective 3: Actively participate and monitor the referral system in Aarsal on screening and breastfeeding counselling Activities : Under the nutrition field officer supervision: -       Receive referral from external stakeholder and run home visit and individual support, if needed, accordingly -       Refer cases in need of support to ACF program or external program -       Monitor the screening activity run through the mobile unit and provide referral accordingly Objective 4: Participate in collecting information on the beneficiaries’ needs in terms of psychosocial and mental health Activities : Under the nutrition field officer supervision: -          Be capable of identifying the most vulnerable groups of individuals in need of psychological help. -          Observe and collect information during the programme activity sessions on the beneficiaries’ needs in terms of mental health. -          Include this information systematically in each activity report. Objective 5 : Regular screening in intervention area Activities : -          Check the children’s state of health, monitor their growth, measure the MUAC and test for oedema. -          Inform the parents of the nutritional status of their child. -          Refer malnourish cases to the nearest Primary Health Care (PHC) centres or the Hospital.   Objective 6: Reporting Activities : -          Participate to creation/revision of project tools -          Realize a weekly and monthly report -          Participate to external reports if needed -          If required, attend meetings with other nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) on the one hand, to inform them of ACF work on nutrition and, on the other hand, to be informed of the progress of other NGOs in this field.     Due to the emergency context, the social workers can be requested to participate to any other nutrition, mental health and care practices activities who could be identify according to the beneficiaries needs and the humanitarian situation
