Project coordinator
Community Building and Agro-Food cooperative management
In the framework of the project “Amélioration des conditions de vie socio-économiques des populations de 6 villages libanais et atténuation des tensions liées à la présence de réfugiés syriens “, funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and implemented in partnership with Comité Catholique Contre la Faim et pour le Développement (CCFD), Mouvement Social Libanais (MSL) and Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) , Mada’s project coordinator will be in charge of the activities that will take place in three villages of Akkar (Fneideq, Hrar and Muchmuch). He/she will manage the related budget.
The Project Coordinator will be based in Mada’s office in Hrar (Akka). He/she will report to the Executive coordinator and work in strong cooperation with the North Community Building Coordinator (NCBC) and coordinate with FTL experts and project coordinator as well as MSL trainers and project coordinator. He/she will supervise the Social worker activities.

General responibilities
Mission 1: Coordination of the overall project
- Coordinate the overall planning and implementation of the project, ensuring deliverables are achieved and suggest areas for improvement in the project implementation processes
- Coordinate and monitor ensuring that policies and procedures are followed; project activities are being accomplished on time and to agreed quality standards, guaranteeing the realization of project goals.
- Compile all monitoring, reporting and financial records for the project, merging the data’s and templates and preparing progress and interim and final narrative reports for the Donor.
- Record progress and submit timely (weekly and monthly) reports, implementation records, activity reports, minutes of meetings, financial spending, etc...
- Identify shortfalls and obstacles in the implementation of planned activities that would require immediate action and propose relevant recommendations and corrective measures
- Monitor expenditures and track activity expenses, providing supporting documents, quotations and invoices in accordance with donor requirements
- Attend weekly coordination meeting in Akkar with Mada’s team in Akkar and monthly coordination meeting in Beirut with all Mada’s team
Specific responsibilities
Mission 2: Supporting daily the restart of Fneideq Cooperative in close cooperation with FTL experts
- Support the cooperative in all legal issues
- Support the women production team
- Support the cooperative in elaborating workplan
- Support the cooperative in elaborating and implementing business plan
- Coordinate all training activities and consultants related visits to the area
- Contact different local potential selling points and agreeing on sales
- Support the material inventory for the cooperative
- Support FTL in purchasing raw material for production;
- Supervise packaging and production;
Mission 3: Coordinating the activities with the territorial committees
- Identify with the support of NCBC the youth and women who will be part of the territorial committees
- Identify with the support of NBC the training needs (social development and inter cultural mediation) of the territorial committees
- Draft with NCBC support TOR of experts who will train/facilitate meeting with Territorial committees
- Organize with NCBC support the training sessions for the territorial committees
- Purchase two buses for Hrar and Muchmuch municipalities
Mission 4: Support FTL in organizing activities regarding food production with Lebanese and Syrian women
- Identify with support of NCBC Syrian and Lebanese women who will share experiences in traditional food production
- Gather Syrian women and Lebanese women to be trained on cooperative management, production techniques, marketing and commercialisation.
Mission 5: Support and Monitor the Social worker in his/her activities
- Support the social worker in coordination with MSL regarding the training and coaching that will be provided to the Social Worker by MSL
- Support the social worker in elaborating his/her workplan
- Support the social worker in reporting
- Ensure the social worker activities are reaching the project objectives and are being accomplished on time
Education and experience
- Master Degree in Social Science, Project Management studies, Agro-food cooperatives or any other relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years field experience of which 2 years coordination experience
Skills required
- Experience in Agro food cooperative field
- Experience in budget management
- Experience in community mobilization in deprived rural communities
- Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs
- Excellent organizational capacities and the ability to multitask (interact with different projects and different people)
- Excellent social, interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize own workload and the work of the team in order to meet tight deadlines with a strong eye on quality
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong monitoring and reporting skills
- Initiative, involvement and commitment
- Acting in a diplomatic way, representing Mada’s non-religious, non-political and non-sectarian principles and respect for diversity and gender
