Medair’s team in Lebanon is implementing projects to assist refugees with shelter and non-food-item needs while also, improving the condition of the tented settlements by working on drainage, flood and fire prevention. Medair also is complementing these activities with a health programme, supporting social development centres in order to improve primary health care access for refugees and the host community.
Medair also runs a mapping project which provides crucial data where Syrians are setting up temporary living structures. These maps will be shared on a bi-weekly basis to the humanitarian community to increase coordination and build the knowledge of the growing situation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Support the Finance and HR team in ensuring all national and international legal requirements relating to employment are adhered to, including contracts, statutory deductions, record keeping
Manage casual labor rotations for all project and support teams, efficiently tracking workers, paying them on time and assuring teams are constantly training up new casual labors for the more skilled tasks on teams.
Support line managers and Finance and HR Department as required with HR activities in areas such as recruitment, induction, training, appraisals, disciplinary action, etc.
Ensure a clear and transparent paper trail is adhered to for all financial transactions and HR activities and that all filing and archiving is in line with Medair and donor requirements which follows international accounting standards.
Ability to carry out the basic day-to-day accounting functions of the programme as to cover for Finance Assistant
Work with Programme Support Manager and Finance Assistant to:
Maintain open and frequent communication, where applicable, with the Finance and HR Team and field management
Ensure colleagues are informed of the required finance and HR procedures, and be available to answer finance and HR related questions and to provide coaching and guidance as necessary
Maintenance of accurate and timely accounting records and supporting documentation for all financial transactions and HR activities.
Person Specification
Certificate in business administration or human resources
University degree in relevant subject
2 years’ experience in a non-profit organisation
Excellent Arabic and English (spoken and written)
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
