Child Protection Assistant - Akkar

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with a mind set to achieve success in a humanitarian organisation working in a challenging but interesting environment. Who are we The Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assitance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk About the job Overall organization and provision of psychosocial support activities in centre-based Child Friendly Spaces and through mobile team operated Child Friendly Spaces. Duties To organize psychosocial support activities for most vulnerable children, based on best interest and needs of children; To supervise mobile recreational and awareness activities in informal tented settlements, collective centers and other community spaces by creating a safe setting where children can express their feelings and needs; To supervise and monitor the work of the animators (who implement the PSS and recreational activities); Conducts home visits for children at risk identified through the activities, when required;   About you To be successful in this role you must have: Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field, Full knowledge about child protection and GBV, At least 2 years of experience in provision of psychosocial support activities mainly with children; Experience working as or with animators;   Ideally you will also have: Master degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field, Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings We offer An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until end of June, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from May 15th 2014. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position is equivalent to USD 1,385 per month (basic salary).
