Emergency Preparedness Response/ Consultant

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as an Emergency Preparedness and Response. Who are we?DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade , running a combination of livelihood , protection ,advocacy and relief projects .DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Syria , Tunisia/Libya , Turkey , and both a country and regional office in Jordan .Since May 2011 , DRC has been actively involved in  the Lebanon emergency response to the Syrian crisis with presence in the North , East (Bekaa valley ) and South of Lebanon. . The DRC response is designed around 4 majors sectors: Food /NFI distribution , Protection , Shelter and livelihood support . As such , DRC is positioned in Lebanon as a main implementing partner of UNHCR , UNICEF , WFP , ECHO and DANIDA , implying a rapid expansion of its program and structure. For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dk DutiesPreliminary consultation:• Get the briefing from the DRC MENA Senior Emergency Manager and the DRC Lebanon Emergency Response Coordinator on DRC MENA EPRP and DRC Lebanon specific• In coordination with the DRC Emergency Response Coordinator analyse the need and develop a workplan accordingly Revision of the SOPs and Tools:• Organise ½ day meeting at the various DRC Lebanon 5 field offices to review relevant SOPs and tools• Organise ½ day meeting at Beirut level once field review have been completed to compile all information at national level• Update the DRC Lebanon Master EPRP Lebanon Plan Training and Simulation:• Provide training ToT and regular one to all DRC staff that will be identified by relevant head of offices and DRC Lebanon ERC• Organise and run simulation exercise at field and national level End of Assignment:• Provide a mission report, on achievements, challenges and recommendation for future work• Ensure that all documentation developed during the assignment, including training curricula is handed over to the DRC Lebanon Emergency Response Coordinator About youa) Essential qualifications: Advanced University degree in disciplines such as disaster management, geography, environmental management, etc. with at least five years of work experience in disaster management, or a similar field;   b) Essential experience:• Have a proven track record of at least 5-8 years in similar assignments overseas as an expatriate• Have demonstrated knowledge and experience of assessment techniques, linked to the current work currently being undertaken by the IASC in Geneva on needs assessment• Have demonstrated knowledge on EPRP model, linked to the IASC working group on Preparedness• Experience working in disaster scenarios preferred • Excellent proficiency in English (spoken and written) Ideally you will also have Regional experience in facilitating or supporting the development of similar pre/post-disaster needs assessment procedures/ guidelines.
