Regional Accountant/grants Manager

Overall responsibility: The Regional Accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide overall regional finance support to the Regional Finance Officer. This includes monthly financial system maintenance, account reconciliations, annual and project audits, and budget coordination. Regional Office Duties: Prepare the Monthly income and expenditure reports for JRS Projects: produce accurate monthly financial reports (reconciliations and discrepancies), and input accounting data into the accounting system. Supervise/Control records of Inventory and Assets Ensure Donor financial reporting requirements are complied with in a timely manner. Deal with routine financial queries Provide input in the budgetary and audit process Provide technical financial and accounting support to Projects, and JRS Country Offices Capacity Building: Visit Projects in the four countries of the region for assistance and support in Project Accounts and improving internal controls Skills Specification Requires a high degree of finance and accounting skills and intimate familiarity with regional accounting issues. Knowledge of and experience with donor grant regulations and financial reporting requirements preferred. Substantial understanding of, and at least 3 years of proven experience with, the NGO budgeting, accounting and, ideally, grant accounting systems preferred. Strong knowledge of internal accounting controls and budget/cash flow monitoring. Computer literate and competent in handling finance and communications software Track record of successfully training, developing/mentoring and supervising finance/admin staff preferred. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment with a multi-national staff. Availability to travel to the regional country offices.
