Who are weThe Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assitance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dkAbout the jobDevelopment of shelter solutions for refugees and displaced households, including the construction of shelter, shelter assistance in case of new displacements including contingency planning and emergency stock piles of shelter materials for emergency response, improvement of living conditions in current displaced, including the provision of shelter solutions and other minor infrastructure projects. You will be working within a team of highly motivated people and an organization dedicated to provide assistance to Syrian refugees. The Akkar province office is based in Kobayat. DRC is working alongside various partners including the UNHCR. Duties• Conduct regular field trip for monitoring and supervision of ongoing shelter projects;• Communicate with and obtain necessary agreements and understanding from local authorities in line with the DRC guidelines for communication;• Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project and materials based on observations and discussions with the DRC team and stakeholders;• Supervision construction projects on site. Design and estimation of shelter projects that DRC is implementing in Akkar;• Survey of existing sites and buildings, including sketching and technical descriptions;• Preparing of tender documents, drawings and bill of quantities;• Follow up and ensure that projects are executed within allocated budgets and in conformity with the set design and specifications; About youTo be successful in this role you must have:• An education as structural engineer, architect and/or other related field of study. Master level preferred;• Good Analytical and planning skills;• Result-oriented and accountability competencies;• Proven organizational skills. Ideally you will also have:• Practical experience in engineering, including survey, planning and execution of building construction projects;• Documented skills in project planning and design, drafting, calculation and technical writing;• Good computer skills in programs i.e. MS Office incl. Word, Excel etc. MS Project and AutoCAD would be an advantage. • Previous NGO experiences and/or working with DRC would be preferred• Residence in Akkar area.
