Shelter Assistant -Akkar

Who are weThe Danish Refugee Council has worked in Lebanon since September 2004, and the programs have followed the country’s needs and progress. The main focus of today’s efforts in Lebanon is to help the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees, who have fled across the border to find protection from the conflict in their homeland. DRC is simultaneously maintaining the efforts toward the vulnerable groups of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. More than 200.000 Syrian refugees have received assitance from the Danish Refugee Council since the beginning of the crisis.For further information about DRC, please refer to our website: www.drc.dkAbout the jobImplementation of shelter related assessments and site identification, working within a team of highly motivated people and an organization dedicated to provide assistance to Syrian refugees. The Akkar province office is based in Kobayat. DRC is working alongside various partners including the UNHCR. Duties• Under the supervision of the Shelter Officer to implement daily / weekly / monthly site visits and monitor rehabilitation works;• Manage contractors on site and daily report to the Shelter Officer;• Assist in drafting layouts and bill of quantity (BoQ) for potential sites to be rehabilitated;• Support in cost estimation for rehabilitation works and proposal design;• Participate in joint site visits with donors and explain technical details; About youTo be successful in this role you must have:• Education as structural engineer, architect and/or other related field of study. Bachelor level preferred.• Good Analytical and planning skills;• Result-oriented and accountability competencies;• Proven organizational skills. Ideally you will also have:• A minimum of three (3) years of professional local experience in site supervision and civil works execution experience in non-governmental organizations is desirable;• Experience to in preparing Specifications and BOQs;• Good design experiences. Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. We offerAn interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs.
