Responsibilities and tasks
· Assessments
o Carries out field assessments focused on technical, social and institutional aspects
o Keeps contact with relevant interlocutors such as water establishments, municipalities, beneficiaries, humanitarian organizations and local associations
o Elaborates his own understanding of the local context
o Analyses the collected information, highlights challenges, writes comprehensive assessment reports, proposes action points and shares with WatHab supervisor
· Project management
o Designs hydraulic systems (hydraulic and civil calculations, bill of quantities, CAD drawings, cost estimates, timeframes,…) and/or follows designs executed by contractors
o Carries out tendering process for selection of contractors
o Follows contractual relations with contractors and supervises contracts implementation
o Follows internal reporting procedures and filing, and manages relevant internal paperwork
· Emergency activities
o In case of need, plans, organises and supervises the implementation of ICRC emergency activities
Minimum required knowledge and experience
· University degree in Engineering preferably hydraulic or civil
· 4 years work experience in a similar field
· Fluent in written and spoken English
· Good computer skills, including spreadsheets
· Very good analytical and leadership skills
· Design of hydraulic or civil works is an asset
Other requirements
· Familiar with usual hydraulic material
· Motivated by humanitarian work and flexible
· Strong capability to work in an autonomous way
· Strong capability of integrating a team
