Psychologist Field Officer

Acciton Contre el Hambre – Spain, is looking for an enthusiastic and high motivated full time local psychologist to collaborate in the implementation of nutrition and mental health project in the Bekaa area, working with Syrian mothers and children living in the ITS.   Assignment: The hired person will participate to the assessments of the Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) & Mental Health and Care Practices and to the identification of implementing sites. She/he will contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the nutrition and psychological activities provided to the target group Minimum skills required Need assessments methodologies, ability to establish a therapeutic relationship with all community members, ability to attend and received feedback during supervision sessions, ability to work with people in an unstable setting. Knowledge of MH theories. Knowledge of humanitarian principles is highly evaluated.   General skills required: Sense of confidentiality; skilled activity leader; ability to actively listen and high communication capacity are required.  Adaptation capacity and flexibility in an unpredictable context. Empathetic and patient, good team spirit and ability to work in a team or independently according to the situation. Good knowledge of the area and local customs is strongly requested.   Main tasks: -          Needs assessment and adapting approaches to cultural context. -          Implementation of the psychosocial support sessions in close collaboration with the nutrition team. -          Development of group discussion groups with the target group about Mental Health and Care practices. -          Development of play sessions and child stimulation. -          Development of care practices about breastfeeding and other activities designed to promote the mother-child relationship. -          Identification of families in need of specific monitoring and ensure individual or group monitoring for identified beneficiaries. (Including visits to their living places when it is necessary). -          Participation to data collection in relation to MH and nutrition problems. -          Reporting and coordination.     Other Able to work and travel in all area of Lebanon without exclusion. Due to the specific context and the sensitiveness of the topics, females are especially encouraged to apply.   Note: All activities must be carried out in close collaboration with the Assistant head of project and the Head of Project.

Degree in psychology. Membership of a professional association in desirable. Experience in working with vulnerable groups. Experience in delivery training; Knowledge of data collection, and knowledge of maternal and child health-nutrition is highly desirable.
