Practical Nurse (2 posts)   Location All Areas (Beqa’a Area – Central Lebanon Area – North Lebanon Area – Saida Area – Tyre Area) Type of Appointment Fixed Term – Three Years (Saida Area): - One post at Ein El Hilweh Camp Health Centre (1) - One post at Ein El Hilweh Camp Health Centre (2) Employment roster (All Areas) Deadline for Application 05 April 2014 Vacancy Announcement Number 16/2014 Grade 07 Department/Division Health Department / Nursing Division   MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   (A)     Performs nursing activities required for child care, e.g., history taking, child measurements and vaccinations; carries out nursing tasks related to school health activities where applicable; (B)     Performs triage activities and conducts health education sessions for patients; (C)     Performs general nursing functions in the preparation and execution of dressing, injections, temperature taking, weighing and measuring blood pressure; (D)     Assists in carrying out antenatal care, e.g., history taking, health education, counseling, measuring weight, height and blood pressure and vaccinations; performs urine and blood tests, where required; (E)     Carries out nursing activities for diabetic and hypertensive cases, such as history taking, health education, counseling, measuring blood pressure, height and weight; (F)      Conducts home-visits for growth retarded, anemic, defaulting patients; (G)     Keeps an account of received and used medical supplies needed for nursing activities; (H)     Maintains a high standard of infection control to ensure safety of staff and clients; (I)        Complies with all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment; (J)       Performs such other duties as may be required.   PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (A)   Academic and Professional Baccalaureate Technique Diploma (BT) in Nursing.   (B)   Experience  At least three years of experience in a similar role.   (C)   Language        Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.   (D)   Competencies i)      Ability to work under pressure and cope with a heavy workload; ii)     Good computer skills; iii)   Excellent organizational and communication skills; iv)    Self- motivated. -                CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Salary: Monthly basic salary L.L. 1,517,038.- Contract Duration: -          To fill two vacant posts – Fixed term –Three years at Saida Area: one post at each of Ein El Hilweh Camp Health Centre (1)  and (2) respectively; -          To establish an employment roster for all areas, for a total of 75 persons divided per area as follow: Beqa’a Area (15 persons) – Central Lebanon Area (15 persons) – North Lebanon Area (15 persons) – Saida Area (15 persons) – Tyre Area (15 persons). Holidays: 30 days annual leave Dependency allowance: Dependent spouse: L.L 60,000 per month     Dependent child: L.L 33,000 per month Pension:  Provident Fund contribution   EQUIVALENCY Candidates with an equivalent combination of relevant academic qualifications, professional training and progressive work experience may also be considered.   RECRUITMENT PROCESS The Recruitment process is based on the Agency’s strategy to obtain the best qualified and suitable employees through a competitive recruitment process. After the deadline for receiving applications, all applications will be reviewed by the Human Resources Office and the Hiring Department.  Only Short-listed candidates who fully meet the required criteria shall be contacted and undergo technical/practical tests and the candidates with the highest passing scores will then be invited to interview (see “Technical and Practical Tests Required” below). The final recommendation for selection is based on the test results, interview assessment, Agency priorities and needs and the candidates’ profiles. If the post is a project funded post (this will be indicated in the vacancy), an internal candidate with a temporary-indefinite or fixed-term appointment selected for this post will not retain his/her current contractual status and entitlements in accordance with current letter of appointment and applicable Area Staff Rules. The Agency maintains the discretion to fill future vacancies for this position from the roster without re-advertising the vacancy.   As an Area post, preference will be given to local candidates already based in the duty station of the post.   TECHNICAL & PRACTICAL TESTS REQUIRED Short-listed candidates will sit for two tests: Written technical test (100%).
